MSP Cadillac Post trooper charged with drunken driving

By Antonio Coleman

CADILLAC — Sammy Seymour, a trooper assigned to the MSP Cadillac Post, was arraigned in Mason County Saturday on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and transporting open intoxicants.

The charges are the result of an arrest made by the Ludington Police Department during an off-duty incident on Saturday.

A statement from the Michigan State Police read: "The MSP has a long-standing tradition of demanding the highest possible standards of professional conduct from its enforcement and civilian members. To that end, all allegations of misconduct are aggressively investigated.”

Regardless of whether a criminal charge results in a conviction, employees can still be subject to administrative penalties resulting from violations of department policy, according to the statement.

Seymour, a 15-year member of the department, has been placed on administrative duty, pending the outcome of the judicial process.
