The results of an extremely close election in Arizona with symbolic meaning have been finalized after a recount that saw a 161 point victory by the challenger expand to a 167 point victory.  At stake was the seat recently occupied by US Representative Gabby Giffords (below right), the victim of a high profile  shooting incident back on January 8, 2011 which left four others dead and Giffords with a head wound resulting in damage to her brain.

Ron Barber, a former Giffords aide, who gained the seat during her recovery in a special election, was the incumbent and ran a strident campaign against the challenger, Martha McSally.  Barber and several out of state allies focused a great deal of campaign energy to the fact that McSally had some dangerous ideas about guns, such as this ad titled "Nearly Everyone":

And this one titled "Personal":

And for this one called "Stalker Gap":

These ads and others seem to have backfired in a district that was about 50-50 Republican- Democrat.  The Arizona Republic newspaper said this last ad was the most base and vile, exploiting one tragedy to come out against McSally, who had nothing to do with any of the tragedies.

Whereas Barber tried to portray himself as a moderate in the swing district, his support for Obamacare and anti-Second Amendment policies likely hurt his reelection chances.

In a statement, Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA Political Victory Fund “Martha stood on principle and supported our constitutional freedoms, despite being relentlessly attacked by the gun control movement.  Michael Bloomberg and national anti-gun groups were dealt a significant blow by Second Amendment supporters across the country on election day. A clear takeaway from these elections is that voters do not support Michael Bloomberg’s extreme anti-gun agenda.”

Her assured victory means that the House has a majority of 59 Republicans (247-188) coupled with a Senate majority of eight (54-46).  Like the drubbing of Democrats in the November election and McSally's squeaky victory in Giffords' district is not necessarily a clear mandate that the majority of Americans have a new respect for the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment, it is compelling to show that there is.

Particularly when we have instances where Draconian gun control legislation is passed, like it was recently in Washington state, and an organized march of tens of thousands gun owners had them wielding and trading guns in violation of the new "unconstitutional" laws, as explained by organizer Gavin Seim:

As he says, the only legal gun control law is the Second Amendment.

This is not going to go away. The left will keep pressing the issue until they succeed. They already have registration requirements on guns as well as many states that require background checks. There will come a day when we will loose our right to bear arms. The Country is moving to the left because of the indoctrination of school children and the communist press. I have to again refer to  Mr. Keyes because he is very good at explaining our rights under the 2nd ammendment.
