Another Ludington Motorcyclist Hit by a Negligent Driver who Faces No Consequences

Just two weeks after the Mason County Sheriff's Office couldn't find it in themselves to write any citation for a driver who turned in front of a motorcyclist, critically injuring the biker, the Ludington Police Department showed that it would not be outdone in their own dereliction of duties in protecting vulnerable users of the roadway.

It was hard to discern what was the nature of the accident that happened just after 7 PM on June 1, a beautiful day turned into a tragedy for a young man and his motorcycle heading south on Washington Avenue.  The local news agencies could give very little about what actually happened, the COLDNews 6-1-18 Car-bike accident just indicated the basics, the MCP offered a traffic alert.

Reader Ed "Bear" Schuitema, a Region 5 Legislative Officer of ABATE (American Bikers Aiming Towards Education), apparently looked into the accident and made a plea towards Mason County law officials who have been on the sidelines for a long time regarding the rights of motorcyclists.  Can anybody remember during Sheriff Kim Cole's 6 years and LPD Chief Mark Barnett's 16 years of leadership at their positions any motorist ever getting a citation for causing a motorcycle accident through a moving violation committed by the motorist?

There's a few of these types of accidents that happen each year in the county, often ending with deaths of one or more motorcyclists, yet no driver ever seems to get a ticket.  An article hidden away on the left bottom of page 2 of the next days' COLDNews print edition finally gives us confirmation that Schuitema's outrage is warranted:

Exactly zero information is given on the driver of the vehicle, it could have been a drone vehicle for all we know from the local news, who apparently don't require a lot from our law officers.  You can bet the 25 year old man was wearing a helmet since the law dogs and media love to report that they weren't when it applies.

The young rider may have life-altering injuries due to some idiot driver not realizing that a red light means stop, but our press and police rest easily with their incomplete story and incomplete police report and let the driver, if any, get away with the carnage caused by their recklessness.

It is really sick and sadistic how local law enforcement would eagerly and viciously issue a ticket to a person for a parking violation which has zero victims, yet a guy on a motorcycle is practically slaughtered and they act like they could care less. This is disgusting! LE needs to be held accountable for this dereliction of duty. Not one dime should be given to these monsters who hold their hands out, steal from children, intimidate the Public, and let victims be once again victimized. These LE officers and the Chief need to lose their jobs and be kicked out of this town. They serve and protect no person other than themselves. Deplorable! Outrageous! Unacceptable!

Well, I was at least hoping for an LDN update today or Saturday, nothing to indicate who the car driver was, local or not, and also age, absolutely Nothing to clarify the situation. The report says officer Sue Maltbie said the car driver ran a red light. That's a clear and sure traffic violation, whether there is an accident or not. She stopped me for the same exact thing 4-5 years ago, and wrote me a ticket for careless driving, and there was no accident nor injuries at all. I took it to court and won, because I was not guilty, and she knew that too anyhow. (Brought in false/fake witness on the stand, who could not answer with integrity to my cross examination). I also haven't heard any update on the last motorcycle accident in front of the oil change place, anyone else? Seems the LPD/MCSO have some very prejudicial attitudes about bike riders, and that's simply just wrong, and also illegal! If nothing more comes of this, it's totally BS, and the biker should sue the driver of the car, and also LPD/Sue Maltbie for incompetence and prejudicial lack of legal actions that would back up the biker that is innocent on this entire matter.
