Series of photos showing some excavated water pipes in the Fourth Ward. The severely eroded galvanized pipes were used by the city between their shut-off valve and the lead gooseneck that connected to the water main. Absent on all but one were the lead goosenecks the city water superintendent and city manager have said are not uncommon in the city. These pipes were likely taken up from First Street or Taylor. The lead goosenecks can poison the water that comes into houses and can very negatively affect child development. Our city water supplies the county that has had the first or second highest level of children with elevated blood levels over the last three years. This, and our city utility indifference to the problem is the cause.

Besides pictures, I hope you gathered and kept some of that "evidence of poisoning" to take to the city council's next mtg.. And be sure to show Moonbeam Kathy up close and let her take an example home with her to remember how she lied about this subject matter repeatedly this year to the public and LDN.

A principled and proactive city government would be communicating to the citizens about areas of the city where they suspect city-piping may have these lead goosenecks and have their wastewater/WW maintenance people make a map of the city's system that gets updated whenever sewer projects are completed.  I have seen it done with much bigger cities, done by their own volition without having citizens up in arms about doing what they should have done in the first place.

Verdad, these utility providers have failed to own the problem and have adopted ordinances that won't allow any city resident from opting out of the poison pipes in the system, even with the debacle that happened with Flint just a couple of hundred miles away.

Why not also include Water St? Beside the fact that it is in terrible shape all of the sewage from first st used to flow into the bayou until we put our seawall in! This city has done nothing but treat the PM Bayou and 4th ward like a trash pit!
