The authorities finally released the dashcam video of the Philandro Castille shooting yesterday.  It becomes obvious why they didn't release it quickly, the actions of the officer was vividly inappropriate, and he's the luckiest man alive to have not killed or injured the young child or woman passenger when he shoots wildly into the car.  Just because he wants to alert/ticket the man because his brake light was out-- which you can see on the video.

Similar reasoning is why I fully expect that the evidence involving the unnamed 'public safety' officer who shot Lee Pat Milks in Manistee will point towards a poorly trained officer who 'jumped the gun' just like this sorry officer did.  Sad that the blue line has to cover-up their mistakes while families of innocent men and women cover-up their victims in the cemetery.

In what was essentially a FOIA lawsuit in Minnesota, the local court declined to make the police recording of the shooting public yesterday.  Judge Leary raised concerns about potential risks before releasing his ruling. He said releasing the video would contribute to an already heated public conversation about the shooting, which would hinder the court's ability to impanel a fair and impartial jury in Yanez's trial.

"Putting a burden on a fair trial doesn't make sense," said Leary, who's also been assigned the criminal case against Yanez. "It strikes me that the Legislature never intended that access to data should trump a person's constitutional right to a criminal prosecution."

That ruling is totally nonsensical.  These are public records, not investigative records by any measure.  When local police officials and the judges that get paid from the same pool decide not to release 'arrest data', you can believe the video is damning-- every time.  Rulings like this destroy people's view of justice and make them believe the system is rigged and unfair.

What speaks volumes to me about the Castile shooting is that the police have yet to release the dash cam video of the responding officers.  Anecdotally showing that the recording girlfriend is a narcissist, a drug user and a questionable parent is fine, but it doesn't discredit what the video shows of the aftermath.

But, instead of getting a supposedly exculpatory dash cam video out to the public, the Minnesota PD has decided to fight those requests with an argument they will lose if it goes to a fair court.  You can be sure that the discerning public will take that into account, including BLM and other anti-police groups and put police lives in danger.  How hard would it be to produce the video, determine that either the policeman acted appropriately or inappropriately, and then for the policeman and the government entity he works for be accountable if it was inappropriate?

Problem is, if it was appropriate or even if it wasn't conclusive, why isn't it being released and shown to reduce tensions?  The only conclusion to draw is that the dash cam video doesn't hurt her story or her credibility.

I'm not sure what really happened when Castile was shot but the only adult witness to that incident. other than the officer, has some credibility issues as shown in the video above.
