Runners will have a chance to help local law enforcement catch a “thief” Friday during this week’s Friday Night Live.

WHO WILL PLAY THE THIEF?

The Cops & Robbers 5K race will be held to raise money for Shop with a Cop Christmas shopping program. During the race, participants will be chasing down a “suspect”. The runners will only be provided with the race start location. From there, they will have to rely on volunteer “witnesses” who will direct them along the suspect’s path.

Officer Tony Kuster of Ludington Police Department, who heads up the Shop with a Cop program, said he wanted to hold a unique fund raiser for the important program. Shop with a Cop allows children in financial need to buy Christmas presents for family members while shopping with the aid of a local police officer.

“This program is very special to many of us,” Kuster said. “Every child deserves to have a Christmas and to share Christmas with his or her family. The program also gives these kids an opportunity to have a positive experience with law enforcement.”

However, the program is always in need of more funds.

The event coincides with the Blessing of the Badges ceremony held during Friday Night Live. Kuster said those wishing to donate to the program do not have to participate in the race. He will be at FNL with a booth near the emergency vehicle displays. Funds may also be sent to Shop with a Cop, Ludington Police Department, 400 S. Harrison St., Ludington, MI 49431.

Runners may register for Cops & Robbers 5K at www.eventbrite.com for $20 (plus $2.09 site administration fee) or they may register prior to the event.

The race begins at 6:30 p.m. at Ludington Crossfit, at 311 S. Rath Ave. It is being organized by Ludington Fitness Events.

WILL IT BE THIS GUY?....

Feel free to polish X,lol

LOL, I had similar thoughts when I read of this event.  Shinblind is right, however, Shay could get caught on videotape stealing the crown jewels, confess, and get away with it.

Maybe Claire "the bookgirl" Whitcomb, our Texas visitor who was ran out of town by our officials could be called back for the role.  How dare she tries to sell educational books in our town with a valid permit, LOL.

Maybe we could give  Claire "the Bookgirl" Whitcomb a hot lead on a sale in Grant Township in a home in the 11000 block of Amber Road.

Since she can still sell in the County I am sure somewhere down that road she may find someone who will gladly listen to her spiel.

shinblind,

You have such an awesome sense of humor! LOL at your ^^^post!

In all the various places I have lived I truly have never seen such a bunch of whiny people!  It appears most everyone in this area has 911 on speed dial, for the littlest minuscule anal retentive sh!t!

Claire"the Book Girl" Whitcomb sold books last summer in the Southern part of Michigan.  Nothing but praises according to her FB page!  "Book Girl" comes to Mason County and wham....the whiners are calling 911, or the Cities--Ludington and Scottville Governmental Agencies are revoking her license, because Claire knocked on their door at 7 AM or 9PM.  Gotta give this girl some credit for working!

Hell-o COL and COS issued Claire the permit, and because of a bunch of whiny citizens Claire's license(which I was unaware) sales personnel  were required to have a license to sell their goods within the City limits of Ludington or Scottville.

As a whole this Community is nothing but a bunch of narrow-minded people, who more than likely have never, ever traveled further than Mackinac Island, or took the Badger across Lake Michigan, and back, and have nothing better to do with their time or energy.  Hell, yes this is Mayberry!  LOL

It would be interesting to FOIA 911 emergency calls and just see how ridiculous and petty Ludington people really are. In Grand Rapids you go to jail and get fined for non emergency calls to 911. Hell, just look at MCP! When 4 out of 9 calls are "Suspicious Situation".

^^^^I know right r/t your above post!

Take care now, Jasper, I usually take my summer family vacation on one of those Badger mini-cruises-- and my hat-size is above the norm.

John, I have a FOIA request sent over the weekend to see what the complaints filed against Claire in Ludington amounted to.

Even better, she played a key role in my public comment tonight, illustrating the sad state of Ludington politics where a woman city official can defraud the state and city three times as evidenced clearly in the public records and receive no public sanctions, while a door-to-door educational book seller gets effectively exiled from our town and publicly scorned for... trying to sell books in a totally lawful manner.

I apologize for the following statement....It was harsh. "who more than likely have never, ever traveled further than Mackinac Island, or took the Badger across Lake Michigan, and back, and have nothing better to do with their time or energy."

Yeah that was just a bit harsh...However, I still believe this is a very "narrow minded Community."

I grew up here, and spread my wings, meaning I am not a transplant....and landed back here! Just as many young people do because there is nothing here for jobs unless one desires to work in the "service industry," for nada until they are old and decrepit.

Yeah, and I still believe everyone has 911 on speed dial.  Geeze just look at the news.  People call for suspicious behavior or hitting a deer.  Is that really an Emergency???  I thought Mason County implemented some type of program where if you hit a deer you did not need to call 911, unless there was injury or damage to a vehicle that was no longer drive-able.

What??? Are people so paranoid about every situation they call 911 when they hear a coyote howling in the back 40.  Really, look on Mason County Press.  The Michigan State Police answered how many calls for "suspicious activity," in their latest press release.  Heck, they answer more calls then the MCSO!!  But, alot of these calls are ridiculous!  A waste of tax-payer money, and time.

Still do not comprehend the need for MSP routinely responding to calls within Mason County, Scottville, and the City of Ludington, when each Community has their own PD, and of course the amount of money spent by the taxpayer's of Mason County for the MCSO!

Why the amount of coverage for a small Northern Michigan Community?  This is not Flint, Detroit, or San Fran...etc...

Well if the tie a can to his tail Shay might be easier to find, otherwise they have no chance of catching Teflon John.

Jasper is right on on our community . I was talking to my neighbor one day and mentioned that I was going to Grand Rapids, she asked me if I was going to stay overnight? It was a such a long way away. She had never been out of Michigan.
