So if a hired city manager goes on the record speaking at a city council meeting and blatantly lies can he be held in some sort of contempt? Because his response was the furthest from the truth to the comment made!

May 23rd, 2016 Ludington City Council Meeting from Mason County District Library on Vimeo.

1:03:50 starts a brave 74 year old woman fighting for her legacy! 1:05:28 starts Shays stream of lies! This is full of BS we just wanted to be like June 7, 2008. It was his idea to try to pass this along since he spent the state and federal money elsewhere! Broke, 1.2-1,.8 million on city marina, 1.5 million on a water tower painting but can NOT help a few small businesses that compete against you?

The people that stick up for him on social media either have not been hurt by him or are employed by him.

I have a great amount of respect for this woman and her husband, true Ludington pioneers who took plenty of risks in starting a marina out at the PM Bayou, a natural quiet cove in the heart of the Fourth Ward, which had been previously despoiled by the heavy industry that populated that general area.  The success of their marina and others in that area, led to the growth of tourism in Ludington in a big way, and yet their main problem is the city that they helped build has turned against them.

The problem is not only that the city and state have developed two publicly subsidized marinas (Harbor Front and the Municipal Marina) since then that have numerous advantages over these private ventures, they have often damaged this fragile ecosystem with their own spills of raw sewage and their neglect to clean up the contamination that existed in the area well before the private marinas got there.

The City of Ludington does not want to take care of it, because they look at these marinas as competition to their own public marinas.  They look forward to eventually taking over these areas and investing a lot of public money into making their own concepts of perfection, just like they are trying to do at the West End of Ludington.

Thank you X, she is trying her best to see that it may go on to a 4th generation! Wow this site has gone silent.

Oath? Oath? Shay don't need no stinking oath.

What oath are you talking about jfc123?

The only Oath that I heard of is the City Councilors, Mr. Mayor Cox, and Chief Barnett holding their hands over their hearts and pledging their loyalty to John Shay at the beginning of each meeting.

jfc123. Shay has an answer to everything. Do you have facts and information that counteracts his statements? If so it may be a good idea to post it to show exactly why he is not being truthful.

Not really sure what to add, I have this article:

http://www.shorelinemedia.net/ludington_daily_news/archives/ludingt...

Show that he knew the bayou needed to be dredged. But the $140,000 was spent on? Unfortunately the city administration ignored the problem for the next 5 years when Shay tried to get us to pay!

This one that starts on page 3 that shows state and federal relief funds were available:

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/deq/lwm-nfip-summer-2008_248403_7...

We never wanted the COL to dredge the whole bayou, just clean the mess caused by the creamy corners drain fail due to an over taxed WWTP that has never been maintained, along with the creamy corners drain! We lost several docks and years worth of business then Shay wants to say the drain is not Ludington's issue all of a sudden? Why now? What is happening? Why did the city try to pass it on to the land owners, it was not our fault? The DEQ 480 page report proves none of this is our fault, it is the fault of the people upstream and the COL sewage and WWTP fail, ok, inability which is why they had no permit for 4-5 years, it needs upgraded because it is insufficient, refer to the COL council meeting on March 21, 2016.

Bottom line it is not the fault of the bayou owners, just hurts all since the mess is still there!

Why can the City of Ludington not be Transparent? What is the bigger picture? Who is behind all of this stuff? Is there really Transparency or just more wool?

Flint properties have been bought for pennies on the dollar due to the issues there, please if you own property do not sell, tough it out because just like Flint this mess will be fixed! Talking of the WWTP, the smell and all of the garbage in the PM bayou!

I will not stop bothering our gov/lt. gov and atty gen until this is fixed.

The COL charges a lot more for sewage discharge to these companies then you and I, the idea is so they have the funds to maintain the issues that happen, not pay for shady grants and tax abatements to friends.

4th ward lives matter and just like the new watershed claims, the Pere Marquette and the Pere Marquette bayou are the heart of the city of Ludington!

Thanks for the information jfc123. Is there any documentation that shows the City of Ludington applied for grants or money from the State or Feds to dredge the bayou? If so did the City receive any funds for dredging?

I would like to see that too, jfc123.  It gives no clear indication either way whether any directed grant or relief were issued to the city. I wouldn't be surprised if they did get some and used it for other things, but I would like some conclusive proof.

The shoreline media article points out what the city was seeking, the flood plain news reaffirms that state and federal funds (fema) were available. This document shows that the COL carried flood insurance on page 40(document number at bottom of page)

https://www.fema.gov/news-release/2008/07/14/president-declares-maj...

And then this proves if you look at the siltation #1 at the bottom of this link and refer to Shay and the comments made in shoreline news it seems to link the two. I do not have proof a check was written but all of this that shows that a check was pursued and was most likely written. But zero dredging here! Just want to be like before the storm!
