The same numbskulls running the City who continue to defy the FIOA laws are again trying to alter the West end of Ludington Ave. They just won't give up. They continue to try and waste the taxpayers money.

"A proposal to make major changes to the west end of Ludington Avenue is scheduled to come back to the Ludington City Council Monday and the council could set public hearings in March to learn reactions of residents to the idea of seeking grant money from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund to pay for those changes.

The council has discussed the issue many times in the past and has sought grant money for the work, with the hope this might be the year the work is funded.

One phase of the project that has been planned for several years is building a concrete walkway along the beach in front of the dune between the Ludington North Breakwater and the west end of Ludington Avenue, where the pavement ends, plus a portion of the promenade area where the avenue ends.

Another idea the council has discussed in the past would close off the westernmost block of the street to vehicles and pave it with bricks, add short shrubs and create a paved area where tents could be erected and parties held."

Some West End info....

Mrs. Jorkasky visited the site of proposed desecration last year and won't this year.

The minutes from the June 15th MNRTF board meeting will be approved at the next Board meeting in August. After that they will be posted to the DNR website, http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-153-65134_65142_65587---,00.html  The previous agendas and minutes are also available here.

I hope more people would push Saving the West End on the FB Concerned Locals Ludington site.  (Thanks ET)

FB and citizens also need to know The Torch is the only complete and full media reporting in Ludington.  We all need to work together for removing the Stench, repairing the PM Bayou, Saving the West End, etc, etc, etc.

I hope we and newly recruited citizens can stay on top of this and keep this grant from going thru.

Save the West End!

Well said and nice update Brad, thanks.

Thanks for the information Brad.

Brad if you write something up and inbox me the info I will post it on the locals and the uncensored page I run.

I don't know, all too many FB people seem to favor non-stressful exchanges, without debate, without bringing up problems, without facts about the other problems facing Ludington these days. Say they really care, then really don't for personal reasons. We most all live in a Ludington world of gov't. failure, like it or not. If that is too stressful to deal with, just ignore it, and it will get much worse, not better, just as it has the last 10+ years.

Debating on Facebook is rather difficult with some people and organizations.  On the Concerned Locals page on Facebook over the course of the last couple of days, I have been civilly but directly chatting with representatives of the Jaycees over topics concerning their eleventh hour fundraising efforts for the fireworks and the consequences of getting funded by the state for their mini-golf project.

After doing the usual liberal tactics of calling me a bully and a hater (without my saying anything to warrant such labels) and avoiding any discussion that went beyond asking for donations or declaring me as socially unacceptable in some way, the main person, local Jaycee Secretary Lexi Alvesteffer decided to block me from seeing her postings, then immediately opened another discussion in the group where I was vilified more; while mercifully being invisible to me, this was incredibly off the pale as far as civilized conduct.

From their behavior, one wonders whether the current Ludington Jaycees stand for 'juvenile clowns' rather than the traditional meaning.  I am not totally surprised with the current direction simply because the Ludington/Scottville Chamber of Commerce under Kathy MacLean is so openly corrupted.

Yeah. I have took quite a few beatings on there myself. Sometimes it seems that no one wants anything to get better, all the do is argue? The city manager on vacation at this time of year is ridiculous, Ludington is bursting at the seems with the beloved by council/governance tourists. All hands should be on deck Imho.

It's something that happens when you get a lot of 'insurgents' together for any cause.  Everybody can be for having fresh air to breathe, but change the parameters and your differences come out.  Some woman made a comment concerning the Jaycees late fundraising efforts.  To their credit, some Jaycee's in the group came forward to try and explain, after others wondered the same.

To their debit they attacked those who wondered, and supplied information contrary to their news release.  It says:  "The group has a fireworks show worth $20,000 planned for the Freedom Festival this year and still needs to raise about $15,000 to make the show a reality."  This was printed in the newspaper as well.

Their president, Kandi Fugere, on June 30 told us on Facebook that:  "Yes at the time of the last PSA we needed to raise $15,000.. $5000.00 to finish paying for 2016 fireworks and $10,000 for the security deposit for the fireworks in 2017 which has to be paid around the beginning of the year, as the fireworks take a lot of preplanning to happen."

Technically, they only need to raise $5000 for this year's fireworks (this still makes you wonder why they are at 50% one week from the event).  It's always beneficial to have goodwill with an organization like the Jaycees, who have traditionally been a bedrock organization in Ludington, but people at the top of their organization are making decisions to not share the full truth, partner with the City of Ludington in order to get public funds for their 'private' projects, bash those people that ask them questions, and block those same people from looking at their Facebook posts.  Those aren't actions of a group I want to ally with, except in order to investigate further their finances and motives.

What I find disturbing is the fact that they are losing the revenue for an entire season. They should have started repairs last fall and finished up this spring in order to collect this summers revenue. If they needed money why not borrow it and pay it back with the money collected from golfers. Tax payers should not be subsidizing this project. Who ever is in charge of that organization is making some very bad financial decisions.

Without even broaching the topic of the wisdom of missing a full season of mini-golf revenue, particularly when the nearest competition has capitulated at AJ's Action Territory, the secretary and the president of the organization along with the folks that have grown up with a great Jaycee group accused me of everything other than the Lindbergh kidnapping-- thankfully I had an airtight alibi for that.

All for asking them simple non-probing questions and asking them to be transparent with their finances-- for their own good.  Mark my words, there is something amiss with the current Jaycees financing, but even though they are getting public money, they are not required by FOIA to disclose their records of what they do with it.

But I've been portrayed as the bad guy before in similar situations, as will anybody who gets in the way of the expanding local corruption club.  Don't be surprised if something comes up in the future along the lines of what transpired with the Petunia Lady.

Thanks.  I'll work on it JFC.

jfc, John Shay has carte-blanche when it comes to anything in his city mgr. position nowadays. He is the real Mayor/ass't. Mayor, that designs and promotes the agendas, does and says anything he wants to, gets away with repeated perjury, and basically leads the city council members around like circus animals. All hands on deck? All hands in the basement, waiting for their leader to return, lol. Sad state of affairs for us all that love Ludington and want a free productive system in place.
