Is anyone helping to find Vaughn, or are they just praying?

The authorities released a photo of Vauhgn in the State he was located in. At least he's trying

Lol!! Good one Willy!

I wonder what the disposition of the funds collected from Hamlin Grocery being run by volunteers over the weekend will be?

I heard that they had a unannounced sale on apparel and wine so they must have had a good take.

Would have also been an opportune time for Aquaman to redeem his "orphan cans and bottles" and get his deposit back.

"Orphaned Cans" LMAO!! That is beyond hysterically funny!!

I'm surprised and shocked by Vaughn's FB page. There are quite a few people upset at Vaughn's situation, citing the following: such a nice guy, great family, not guilty, honorable businessman, loved by everyone, done much for the community, being talked about unfairly, come back soon, all forgiven, etc.. Wish I could agree, and just wonder, wth kind of justification they have for this? Is the MCSO going to let this guy slide? Is he going to be given some special treatment? Same with the MC Courthouse, special treatment and slide on the serious charges? They all did last time, so now what? Definition of Vaughn per Wiki: Welsh and English name for someone "little". I would have to agree. Little or small on ethics, honor, responsibility, integrity, truth, love, and honesty. I even wonder too now, did he even deposit his employees' with holdings on social security, fed. tax, and state taxes? That too is criminal in the eyes of the law. I think what some people are confusing is that most of Vaughn's problems are White Collar Crime, not Blue Collar Crime, however, criminal actions, or lack of doing what is required by law, is still criminal, and punishable by imprisonment, and reimbursements of his financial gains by not paying in.

Here's another update on Hamlin Grocery. Less than a month ago after the closing, John and Nancy Ball of Manistee have bought the store, and are renaming it Lower Hamlin Grocery. The Ball's apparently bought the lien from West Shore Bank, amount unknown. Meanwhile, WHERE IS VAUGHN? Still in hiding and avoiding arrest and payment of back fees, taxes, and penalties? I haven't heard any update on him, anyone else?

I'm glad to hear the store will be reopening. I wonder why the didn't just keep it "Hamlin Grocery" ?

The incident is around a month old, and yet nothing really has been released for nearly as long until this news on the fate of Vaugn's old store.  Not even on social media rather than the prayers and well-wishes.

While I believe everyone is entitled to a degree of privacy, I am curious as to what punishments the state revenuers and local law enforcement are heaping on him due to his shenanigans in taxes and evasions.

If you kept the same exact name, it could be harmful to the new owners from tax and liability standpoints, confusing to other tax collectors, and a name that is now stained from Vaughn's ownership. As for punishments, no updates by MCSO, no press releases with questions, and no more prayer vigils, my heart and experience says too many are trying to sweep the entire episode under the rug, and keep it hush-hush, and let him pass in any way possible. Since Cole is such a publicity hound, you would think he'd make some week to week statements of progress, yet he remains hushed up too. Same with Prosecutor's office too, no word.

Any update on this?  It's been nearly a year since Flewelling left town and ran away from more than $60,000 in unpaid taxes, employee withholdings, etc.  With tax season here, I was reminded of Vaughn's case.  I'm pretty sure the IRS would be after me if I owed $60,000.  It seems that Vaughn was able to just leave town and not have to pay the consequences.  How exactly is that right or fair?

According to Vaughn on his Facebook page he is currently living 483 miles north of La Jolla, California as of January 6.  This would put him around the San Jose/San Francisco area, possibly inland.  From his new friends and posts, I would say he's doing okay for himself, and looks like he's been okay since late July.

Without knowing much else, I would presume he may have paid his debts between last April and July; just because he owed a lot doesn't mean he didn't have the wherewithal to pay up when the taxman came, and the fines he accrued may have been his only punishment.

Can probably check with Hamlin Twnshp. on his property taxes. But I would assume, the new owners took care of that in the new deal upon buying the store. As for the other taxes, that should be with the State of Michigan Treasury Dept.. I really doubt he paid any of these back taxes to date, as he has fled over 3,000 miles to get away. He could even have gotten new ID and SS# to avoid the trace. His FB page doesn't say where he lives, what he's doing, or anything specific either, except drinking wine.
