Move along, nothing to see here.

Did anyone expect any other conclusion?

Yup, same crime, same conclusion every time forever.

In the textbook, The Oxford Handbook of American Public Opinion and the Media (2013):  It notes that

A 3:00 PM news conference before an extended four day holiday gets lost very quickly, and the sad thing on behalf of the City of Manistee and their police department is that they know that and tried to bury their controversial findings in the news cycle.

What's even sadder is that I have a FOIA lawsuit for the police incident report, supplements, and the use-of-force report for this killing.  I've had it filed and served for a month now, and I haven't received nothing other than a complaint answer by their attorney which claims the city has done everything right, and can withhold these non-investigative records under false and unlawful pretenses.  When they do press releases like this, they only go further into the abyss if the judge applies the law fairly and judiciously, for they have revealed even more information to the public and still maintain this released information is exempt to my FOIA request.

So much for their motto : PROTECT AND SERVE  Should be: PROTECT AND SERVE OUR SELF

If there was any footage via dash cam or body cameras it would be inoperable or, it was quickly destroyed. If they had nothing to hide the evidence would have been quickly produced. Murderers are good at what they do.... "We investigated Ourselves and found No Wrongdoing".

When the police agency does not keep their non-investigative police reports and use-of-force reports open to the public in an event like this, they must always be distrusted in their relation of the events.  It's a poorly led police agency and corresponding local 'justice' system that would conduct themselves in such a manner as has happened here.  Sadly, the public has little recourse to get rid of such a corrupted unaccountable system

I can only go by the officer's statement because the other person involved cannot tell his side. If what the officer says is true then he certainly was justified in taking the action he did. If someone put a round in a rifle and began to level it at me, my conclusion would be that I'm about to be shot. Until we know for sure exactly what took place there could have been no other outcome to this sad story. All I can say is to all police agencies, get those damn body cameras, use them and make sure they work so that the murder of a citizen by the police or the murder of an officer can be determined as to what really happened and if any prosecution is necessary.

The biggest problem with the police is they investigate themselves, that should never happen. there should be a neutral party to investigate like a jury panel that has nothing to do with government.  And as I have said before all police should be licensed !!!. If a person who cuts your hair, builds your deck has to be license why not police ?
