I can't imagine why this hasn't yet been reported in our local media, not even the radio stations, nearly two days after the fact, it's rather bizarre, but TV 7&4 reports:

Upper red dot shows Ludington Wal-Mart location, lower red dot shows where girls were picked up later, roughly 2-3 miles away

A Mason County woman is facing drug charges after investigators said she had several drugs on her when she came to pick up her daughter.

Mason County sheriff's deputies were called to the Ludington Walmart in the 4800 block of West US-10 regarding a suspicious situation call around 6:49 a.m. Saturday.

When deputies arrived on scene, Walmart employees told them there were two young girls who were reportedly found "camping" inside the store's clothing section and when approached the girls, they left on foot.
Investigators said one of the girls left a cell phone behind, which led deputies to one of the mothers.
Deputies learned the girls were 10-year-old and were taking part in a challenge posted to social media where people allegedly sleep inside large stores.
Sheriff Kim Cole said when the mother of one of the girls, who is the one who allegedly took them to the store around 2 a.m., returned to meet with the deputies, heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine were found on her.
She was arrested on charges of possession of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine.
Investigators said the girls were located shortly before 8 a.m. walking on Sixth Street near Pere Marquette Highway, which is more than a mile away from the store [End article].

I hope the mother learned a lesson of not bringing your full arsenal of illegal drugs with you when you go to meet with local sheriff deputies to pick up the 10 year old daughter you permitted to trespass in Wal-Mart overnight without supervision.  Let's express hope in this Christmas season that the mother will eventually recover from her addictions and that her daughter will be able to recover from her past and become a good person when she gets to be as old as her mother.

I'm definitely interested in the story behind that personnel move, because the LPD generally doesn't share those issues with me voluntarily.  All I did know was that he had been moved away from his detective spot and replaced by JB Wells recently.  I presumed it was because he had an intellect rivalled only by garden tools, and likely got the LPD into another federal lawsuit due to his brutish instincts.

Wishful thinking X. Regarding your last paragraph, that is. Brain dead parents like this woman see nothing wrong with acting like a teenager themselves. I feel sorry for those kids who have mothers who are dumb as rocks.
