Willy, spare us the details of your trip. Just show us the beautiful pictures you take. LOL  I did the sea sick bit once, I know how you felt.

All ways went the ginger route myself. Candied ginger.  Never had an issue with seasickness.  I know people who would swear by the cinnamon squares from McDonalds bakery too. Not the cinnamon rolls but the squares that  were baked in  a pan.

The photo reminds me of two reasons why locating a kayak rental by the west end is a poor idea. One is that it can look deceptively calm from this launching site  until you are around the pierheads. There are days when it is calm enough to clear the pierhead but returning is a different story. The waves can build up quick out front making it challenge enough with a small boat. I believe a lot of kayakers will be pitchpoled trying to return which can happen a lot with a change of wind and currents. 

The second thing is that a lot of paddlers will be drinking or smoking and not really be fit to be on the water. Having them have to go by the Coast Guard Station will add another layer of safety in that they can be challenged before hitting  more open waters. When they launch from the West End they can sneak out unless the city or sheriff are going to park their boats there to monitor the situation.

One benefit of the West End scheme is that the plaza will give the 'yakers a refuge area to sleep it off before continuing their journey. Although pity the mom who has to run this gauntlet in order to take the kido's to the playground.

It's funny that you mentioned the bracelets. On this trip I was sick as a dog and at first I refused to wear a bracelet but seeing that others were beginning to feel better after they put them on, I decided to try one. I couldn't believe it but it worked. I don't know how. It might have been all in my mind but I'm sold on them now and would definitely recommend them.     Sea Bands

That harbor is deceptive at times, it looks so serene until you start seeing those waves sloshing over the breakwalls on your way out.  Your trip reminds me of a trip on the Badger about 20 years ago when I was a bit nauseous all the way over, but it was the kids that hurled their breakfasts out before they got some seasickness bracelets from the cruise director.

I took this from the deck of the Badger. It didn't seem that windy or rough before we set sail but as soon as we hit the harbor outlet, out came the barf buckets and the puke fest began.

Was that taken while at the Ludington lighthouse or on a boat?
