State Police arrest woman for refusing to answer questions

State Police pulled Philadelphia attorney Rebecca Musarra over for allegedly speeding on October 16, 2015. She refused to answer any questions and they arrested her-- for obstruction.
But the two experienced cops were sure to inform Musarra that she had the right to remain silent – once she was handcuffed and placed in the back of the patrol car.

Thank you XLFD. I was not aware of the ability to start a group.

We do have an underused category in the Ludington Torch called the "Group" feature.  I regularly post something on the BUMPS group, like I did earlier today when something that interests me comes up concerning bicycle, motorcycle or pedestrian safety.  I have and will be using the Trail of Baby Kate group to supplement the record on the upcoming murder trial.

Any member of the Torch can create a group to cover specific issues, and since we specialize in calling out public officials behaving badly, in order to promote awareness and foster positive change, there is a good chance a group documenting police excesses, especially ones that can be related to on the local level, would be a good start of a group here.  I would join and contribute material to such a group.

I would advise everyone not to overgeneralize and think that everybody that straps on a badge and a gun are like all the bad cops that we see on these videos; it is perhaps as vacuous a view as those who always act as apologists for police when they see these videos.  A better presumption to make is to say that if cops do terrible things, like the local cops did with Joseph McAdam seven years ago, and their superiors irrationally defend their actions, that the whole force isn't worth a crap.

What is aghast is "seizure laws." Law enforcement can seize your property, vehicles, cell phones, etc....prior to being convicted of any crime. Even after found innocent one plays hell getting their seized property back. XLFD what are your thoughts on a separate category on law enforcement, dirty cops....? There sure is enough of them these days!

All cops use their badge and gun for their own personal benefit, to make people do what they want. They forget who they work for and the Oath they swore to uphold. Eventually they all become rogue, corrupt, and evil.

Most cops are good people but there are enough bad apples who give the good ones a bad name and they are the ones who need to be fired. I wonder how nonsensical that cop in the video realized he was when he arrested that woman for remaining silent then quoted to her that she had the right to remain silent while arresting her for exactly that. Utter nonsense.  This was a perfect example of bad policing.

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”

Cops are a menace to society. Especially, in Ludington. Can't wait for that lawsuit that wipes the town off the map, so us natives can enjoy peace and, sand.
