Wow....A couple of City Commissioner's want to revamp or eliminate the City's Police Department.  Wow...the Mason County Press was going to go after a City Commissioner for violations of the "Open Meetings Act?  Seems strange an "online newspaper" venue's owner commented he was going after a City Commissioner for violation.

Another strange item for said owner of the "Mason County Press" was his post on assistance on how to recall a City Commissioner, with very detailed instructions.

So much for fair, balanced, and unbiased news reporting.

I really shouldn't comment on Scottivlle's follies because I have no dog in their fight. I have no association with that town, but when a politician begins to act like the Mayor it becomes everyone's responsibility to question their actions. SDS, Sinister Politician Syndrome, is very contagious and should be dealt with by any an all citizens to prevent it's spread. To bad Ludington's case of SDS is continuing to be reinfected by newly elected officials of the Council and Mayor's office. Isolation of these carriers is essential but the only problem is the election cycle, at least in Ludington, doesn't seem to offer any cures.

Kudo's to Commissioner Hahn for recording the recent "Finance Committee Meeting."

The Chief of Police commented the SPB are not kept up with current training, because the COS cannot afford to pay for this training.  Wow, just wow!!

So, what the Chief stated was his "Officers are not up to snuff with current training."  But, yet the Chief blew his rod at a recent Commissioner's Meeting, when Commissioner Hahn brought this to the Citizen's attention???

Now, the Chief is asking the Finance Committee for raises for his Officer's?  But, yet the City does not have money in the budget for training?

Perhaps, the reason these officer's stay in Scottville is due to the fact no other law enforcement agency would hire them  due to their lack of continuing training.

Notice that in the video, Edward sets up the camera, then leaves, so that Rob Alway won't take him to court for an Open Meetings Act violation when a quorum of commissioners would be present if he didn't.  Whether you like what he stands for, or not, he's a great public official who is not afraid to step on some toes in the name of accountability and openness.

Interesting bit of backtracking; interesting bit of greed for these undertrained officers.  All captured for posterity.  Be sure to check out the Scottville Commission at 5:30 PM later today, or catch his video later.

Thank-you XLFD for posting the "YouTube" videos.

And, if you would be so kind to post Mr. Hahn's latest video it would be much appreciated.  Thanks a lot!

SCOTTVILLE — The Western Michigan Old Engine Club’s three-year lease with the city was renewed Monday afternoon by a 6-1 vote, Commissioner Ed Hahn being the opposing vote.

The club leases the southeast portion of Riverside Park for $1 a year, on a three year contract. The club has erected several buildings and permanent displays at the location during its tenure at the park.

During discussion, Hahn asked how much money the old engine club makes. City Manager Amy Williams said she was unable to answer that but said the club is a non-profit organization. Commissioner Connie Duncil said she believes the club does a lot of good for the city.

In addition to the club’s annual show in August, it also holds an education day for area school children each September, teaching them about the history of agriculture.

City Manager Amy Williams is recommending the city renew its lease with the club at the same rate.

Really Mason County Press???

I did not witness Commissioner Hahn opposing this lease!  However, I did witness him questioning how much money "The Old Engine Club" generates?  And, rightly so!  $1.00???  Really???

Scottville, is supposedly so broke and Commissioner Hahn was asking a legitimate question.  $1.00 seems far too "cheap" for leasing 22 acres of land.

Yet, MCP reporting of Commissioner Hahn opposing this renewal is inaccurate!  It really is a good thing Commissioner Hahn records these meetings.  Recordings cannot be denied!

Another question?  Who, whether nonprofit  or not improves 22 acres of land while it is being leased?

What would happen to those buildings if the City of Scottville decided against this "lease renewal?"

Do all non-profit agencies receive this kind of deal?

What is really disturbing is due to the inaccuracy of reporting by the MCP, the Citizen's of Scottville do not receive actual and factual information.

Thus, the comments on "Mason County Press" FB page!  Heck, some of those responding don't even bother to read the entire inaccurate article....Just the headlines!  LOL

A hoot and a half...MCP has to direct the responder's to read the article's instead of just the "Headline's"!
