Jokes.. simplidication of reality

Over 2000 years ago, Moses said to Israel, "Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to

the Promised Land." When Welfare was introduced, Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light

up a Camel, this is the Promised Land." Today, the government has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price

of Camels and mortgaged the Promised Land to China! 

 

I thought this was sort of fitting. Anyone else see the logic?   :)

I presently live in ohio, and those stats were taken from the local paper. I might add, my jaw dropped when I read it and my wife didn't believe it till she read it for herself.,.

I know the local and state governments can set there own ( poverty levels) adjusted for local conditions. My brother used to live in Orange county CA until he received a letter from the local government proudly telling him that he and his wife who combined made nearly 80K a year with a family of 4 were eligible for a low interest home improvement loan. He took the loan remodeled the home then sold it. Moved to N.C.  bought a much larger home,and took a whole year off to decide what he wanted to do with himself. While I did not care for the fact my own brother was willing to do that with the way he was raised. 

I have to ask myself. In a high cost living area, do I really blame the ones who do? The monies are available. Why not use them to improve your own situation faster as uncle sugar is so willing to spend the monies they already have taken?
