Cut Off and Drive Away

One of the lowest forms of human existence is the motorist that runs into a kid whether they're on foot, on a bicycle or on a moped, and then doesn't bother to stop to render aid, as the law says he must (MCL 257.617 and MCL 257.619) as well as common decency and morality require. Policemen and judges rarely hold motorists accountable for causing accidents where vulnerable users of the road are killed or seriously injured, even when it is clearly the motorist's fault, so not stopping is often the only thing that will surely get them in trouble.

Down in Ottawa County, some clown in a green Pontiac Grand Am (or Grand Prix) turned in front of a teen on a moped causing an accident that should have never taken place. Why do some motorists pass a slower moving vehicle just to turn right in front of them? I run into a couple of these jokers over the course of a summer while riding my bicycle-- fortunately, not literally.

A partial MI license plate having the letters CMZ was noted by witnesses. Let's catch this moron; if you happen to be that moron, walk (don't drive) down to the nearest police station and insist you aren't the dummy that did this.

A green Pontiac Grand Am (1999)

SPRING LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Police in Ottawa County are searching for the driver whose vehicle collided with a moped and then fled the scene.

A 15-year-old male was riding the moped at the time. He is now in a hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Sunday on Cleveland Street near 144th Avenue in Spring Lake Township.

Witnesses told deputies a car passed the moped, and as it turned into a business it turned into the path of the moped.

A witness said the vehicle is a green-colored Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix. The witness also got a partial license plate number having the letters CMZ.
