I give credit to X for posting this pic.. But, since it's very very old, and exotic imho, I wanted to post it to the pics. section for observation. This is before the USCG times. This is accurately named Ludington LSS, the LSS signifies Life Saving Station, which is what the original concept was for this facility. To save lives on the water with the life boat and volunteers that were chosen from the best local swimmers available and applying. Anyone know what year this was? I'm guessing the 20's or 30's, but may be mistaken.
The post card was issued before real color postcards were the norm because this card appears to be hand painted like many of the earlier cards. This is a good question Aquaman. I tried to pin point the year but haven't zeroed in on it yet. I'm also guessing the 20's or 30's.
The postcard has "U S Coast Guard" written on it, so if we take a look at some old Ludington Daily News clips back when they printed interesting stuff like its history here and its leadership here, one gets the idea this photo was from the period between 1948 (when Coast Guard Group Ludington was established, from the LSS you mention, Aquaman) and the 1980s; with the type of postcard I would have to say its probably from the 1950s or 1960s.
