This is just a small part of what the Stearns Family's fortune was made of, at least in Ludington. Anyone remember this? Ky. also made coal mining their forte. Now we have a Stearns Park that puts up snow fences in September, well before the late fall months, when they SHOULD BE PLACED FOR THE WINTER!

Aquaman, do you have any idea what year this image represents?

I rarely and really don't care to visit the Stearns Park during peak days of summer anymore. It's become way too crowded, parking is improbable, traffic is lined up for 10+ minutes to egress, and vendor lines are also long. About 2 weeks ago, since the exodus of many tourists, I wanted to go there for a hotdog and ice cream cone. Guess what? Those "summer vendors" are now closed, till next Memorial weekend. That wasn't the case as I grew up here, and shouldn't be today imho. If vendors want to rent that area and carry on with the locals, at least until a reasonable date, say October 15th or so, why can't they be allowed to? Why are tourists again being gifted with access and pursuits of freedom during those summer months, while locals are again being denied the same benefits? I don't think this is what the Stearns family intended, nor should they allow it to continue in this fashion. And the parking for the park this week continues to be blocked by our DPW, the snow fences are going up fast, blocking the views intended for locals to enjoy, and sand drifts will be there anyhow, during October and November gales. And then the removal process of the drifted sand will have to done anyhow, in spite of early snow fence installations. And the fences will make that work just that much harder, costly, with more wasted time.

I meant to mention this, a small factor. The Stearn's family DONATED THE STEARNS PARK LAND, to the COL, to be used by Locals Year-Around, as much as possible, so that They benefited from that beautiful piece of property. For Recreational purposes of sunbathing, picnics, and swimming. Mostly for it's Prime Location, and it's accessibility to the LOCALS! Is that TRULY what we are seeing NOW? Imho, it appears what we have now is a fixed agenda by COL officials. To close that sanctuary off to locals, except for the "tourist season", when outsiders come to visit our private territories, invade it if you will, and take advantage of the property during the dates of Memorial to Labor Day weekends.
