Guessability Study on Considering Cultural Values in Gesture Design for Different User Interfaces Hajar Ghadirian Najaf Abadi 1, Lim Yan Peng 2 + and Ali Mohammad Hossein Zadeh 1 1 Master students of E-learning in MMU University, Malaysia 2 department of Creative Multimedia in MMU University, Malaysia of gestures (Norman, 2010). As such, a feasible aid for mistake recovery could be a trace for gestural actions, possibly displayed through a function of gesture history. Thus, also the issue of insufficient gestural feedback should be possible to resolve with additional functionality. Abstract. The present work aims to provide a contribution to the definition of new parameters to guide interface design and content publishing that will ensure the quality of gestural interaction in newspaper apps for tablets. Our case study is O Globo A Mais, a digital edition with unique content specially produced for iPad, Don Norman and Jakob Nielsen claim that there is an overall decrease in usability in popular, modern technologies. Nielsen and Norman accuse large tech firms (such as Apple and Google) and modern developers. In the opinion piece, Nielsen and Norman criticize modern usability in key usability qualities. Over the next few years, we can expect to see gestural interfaces play an increasing role in the way we design and use systems. This presentation is a broad introduction to gestural interface usability. We'll look at: what are we talking about?what will GIs mean for users?what will GIs mean for developers and usability practitioners?conclusions Jakob Nielsen: Jakob Nielsen, Ph.D., is a User Advocate and principal of the Nielsen Norman Group which he co-founded with Dr. Donald A. Norman (former VP of research at Apple Computer). Before starting NNG in 1998 he was a Sun Microsystems Distinguished Engineer. Dr. Nielsen founded the "discount usability engin Just finished reading the article Gestural Interfaces: A Step Backwards In Usability by Donald Norman and Jakob Nielsen. I would suggest reading the article before reading my critique below. My immediate gut feeling was that their article didn't hit the mark this time. For this reason, the technology is still promising but not readyto replace the traditional mouse and keyboard in the activity of the designers using graphic software. References [1] D. Norman, J. Norman: Don Norman is the author of numerous books including "Emotional Design," and more recently, "Living with Complexity." He is co-founder of the Nielsen Norman group, a professor at KAIST (in Korea), and IDEO fellow, and a design theorist, studying the fundamentals of modern design.Donald A. Norman has takes us a step backwards in terms of usability, since no haptic feedback is available when interacting with it. The theory of NUI is a decades-old research field, but with the advances in technology in recent years, it has finally become a reality for the consumers. Using just your body to interact with the NUI is slow and sometimes error-prone In a recent column for interactions, Norman pointed out that in the rush to develop gestural (or "natural") interfaces, well-tested and understood standards of interaction design were being overthrown, ignored, and violated . Yes, new technologie
