It is intended to assist JPs in understanding their role as a JP and their duties in witnessing various documents. It is not to be used for the purposes of fileslib. What should a JP do when asked to perform? As a JP, you play an essential part in the legal system and in the community in NSW. The two main functions of a JP are to witness the signing of documents such as affidavits and statutory declarations, and to certify copies of documents . Some of these documents may be required in court proceedings.
