251 Posts. #4 · Sep 9, 2009. They should be the standard saganaw 76 box seals. Same as the ones found on, say, a 1978 cj5. Check at your local auto parts store and compare the shaft size. You may want to pull the box and determine where you have a leak. If the box still operates well then fix the seals. Could simply be the o-rings on the hoses. I've got to give some credit to Haynes for producing a very good Mustang V8 repair manual for 64 1/2 to 73 V8 Mustangs. No six cylinder Mustangs are covered, unfortunately. Step 4: Take a rubber mallet, or some form of hammer, and tap the bottom of the Sector Shaft until the whole assembly unseats itself. This will not work unless the box has been centered.
