The new engine is installed and appears to run great, it idles smoothly and revs fine, sounds great. Oddly, after I replaced the engine, the automatic transmission will not go into gear. Actually it did go into gear a few times when I revved it up to 2500 - 3000 RPM. I DID NOT pull the transmission during the engine swap. I left all electrical Transmission won't go into any gear. It happened very suddenly without warning. It happened very suddenly without warning. There are no metal shavings or anything unusual in the transmission fluid or the pan. Suzuki won"t shift into gear unless I turn the car off and put it into first I can't shift the into gear unless I turn the car off put it into first and then go. I can shift speeding up but can only sometimes downshift. You can easily put the car into any gear when the car is off. When the car is moving, its easy to change gears (though I haven't tried a rolling start/first gear test yet) When the car is on and not moving, If I depress the clutch and try to put it into ANY forward gear, it will not go into gear (although if I push it hard it will go in). F150 Manual transmission will not shift? I own a 1989 F150 with a straight six 5 speed manual trans and 2wd. I had a problem just like this earlier in the year where when running it wont shift into any gear with clutch depressed. After replacing the transmission, it will NOT shift into any gear unless the engine is off. Also, the clutch pedal is not smooth; it appears to "catch" on something repeatedly as it's coming up. If the engine is started with trans already in gear, it appears to be able to utilize said gear, but will not shift out of it until the engine is off When your car won't go into gear, there are a couple different factors that could be in play, and some of them are quite serious. If your transmission shift cable is broken, for instance, you're probably going to have to call a tow truck, and the same goes for most of the transmission problems associated with this issue. I own an 89 Toyota Pick-up V6 manual trans. In a matter of 2 days the truck went from shifting fine to not being able to shift into gear. First it was tough to get into gear, then progressively got worse with grinding on all gears; reverse being the worst. My Transmission Will Not Shift! backbone of most modern day automatics is still the planetary gear system which was used in the Model T. Similar to a manual transmission, the teeth of the gears in an automatic transmission are always meshing. If your truck won't go into 2nd gear even How to fix a car that won't go into gear DIY with Scotty Kilmer. How to replace clutch master cylinder. 5 Things You Should Never Do in a Manual Transmission Car How to Fix an Automatic It will not go into reverse. It will not go into any gear. After getting towed home, I took this video while I was moving the gearshift. Moving the stick forwards and backwards is causing the shift linkage to move back and forth, but it doesn't seem to engage the gears at all. I also went left to right and then up into gear..nothing. I have a 1988 nissan 300zx turbo with a manual transmission. It was driving fine until I had it sitting for a few months. Now when I turn the car on it will not shift from neutral into any gear unless the car is off. When I put the car into gear and start it, it will not shift out of any gear. I was It will not go
