This DAC is about in my price range, or perhaps a little too expensive actually, so comparisons with cheapers DACs would definitely be appreciated. In any case, musical fidelity is coming out with a v dac II that does pretty much does what the v link + old v dac combo does for around $350 I believe. You can pick up the v dac now for $250 which is a good deal; I'd get one and not lose any sleep over the v link. If the Pyramid PSU would yield a better sound than the el-cheapo wall wart I'd like to go that route. However, I'm not going to spend $150 or so on Musical Fidelity's "upgraded PSU" for the V-DAC II so that's not an option. The first thing Musical Fidelity did was give the V-DAC II a classy brushed-metal exterior with thicker, machined aluminum end caps for added sturdiness and a handsome, high-tech look. Then, they upgraded its USB input to handle high-res 96kHz/24-bit music files for ultra high-fidelity computer audio. Keep the V-DAC away from heat such as radiators.
