On Lk. Michigan, this summer, somewhere around Port Washington if I'm not mistaken. One of 3-4 recorded. It's called a "water spout" in mariners terms, on the water, and it's just what it looks like, a cyclone/tornado over the Lake. Not a pleasant site, nor one to approach, one to run away from.
