Sad situation all the way around. One bullet  has caused all this grief.

One cannot help but grieve for the senior Butterfield, and believe his son's grisly death at the hands of Eric Knysz helped lead to his succumbing to cancer.  Unfortunately, Paul Sr. focused too much of his anger at the wrong party, the other victim of Eric's actions:  Sarah Knysz.  At her trial he victimized her further with his words that I believe misread any actions of her that night   “I have seen your tears,” Paul T. Butterfield said, addressing Sarah. “I believe your tears are not a result of sorrow for our son’s death, but because you got caught.

“By your actions and decisions on that day, you condoned the actions of your husband,” he said.

Choking back his own tears, Butterfield said, “The day my son was born was the happiest day of my life. ... I hope for the sake of (your) child that he or she is removed totally from your family and adopted (by a loving, stable family).”

“I have followed your court hearings and seen your tears, which cannot compare  to the tears my wife and I shed following the shooting. You made the choice to  stay with him (Eric Knysz) instead of doing the right thing and leave and call  police.”

This was at her trial, at Eric Knysz's trial, he was a lot more subdued at the person who did the shooting and everything else illegal that night.  Why did he blame someone for not running away from a killer with a gun, the victim of an abusive relationship, rather than the actual killer?
