Father Pere Marquette memorial cross

I just assume you all know about the strong local controversy going on right now. The PM Charter Township recently received a letter demanding our Pere Marquette memorial monument be torn down, or face legal action. Letter was sent by Michigan Assoc. Civil Rights Activists. A Muskegon strongly atheist visitor to that site fishing was insulted by the religious overtones, and reported it. Rights of Constitutional vs. Religion is the beef of no government public property shall display, same as nativity scene as of recent years. What do you all think?

According to a TV 7&4 report this last fall, the cross is expected to be erected this spring.  For those who may have missed the transaction, the property was gifted to a non-profit group by the Township which has silenced Mitch Kahle and his ilk, and they are looking for funds to help with the project and maintain the site (for those interested, the link above has where you can donate to the cause.

Hey Willy, what's been going on now since recently is that Mike Wadel Construction Co. of Lud. is moving that Westerly to a new foundation, with remodeling too, for $75K. This was told to me via phone by Supvsr. Keson of the PMT last week. It is NOT being demolished per the recent complaints of the MACRA. At least not yet, or before a court case later.

I was out taking photos of PM lake today 12-19 and when I got back to my computer to process them I noticed one of the images showed the cross at Father Marquette's Monument. It appears it is being dismantled. I won't be able to verify that because I have to leave town early tomorrow. So if anybody gets a chance I would appreciate it if you could check on the crosses status. Below is the image. I also noticed a TV channel truck in the boat launch parking lot.

The MCP and LDN both have extensive articles on this matter from yesterday, Dec. 15th, as more info. is surfacing about the entire fiasco.

And youtube has numerous videos of this man and woman whom are wreaking havoc in Hawaii, and now West Michigan. It's Mitch Kahle and Holly Huber, both strong atheists, and violent types for civil rights activity. Facebook forums like Vanished Ludington, and Concerned Locals Ludington also have many posts. Thank you Willy for the link that illustrates the case here in more depth.
