Ludington Daily News Ball Drop Cam Drops the Ball
While celebrating the New Year's arrival in the heated comfort of my household with my family, I occasionally checked the LDN's much ballyhooed webcam to check on the festivities downtown, but only saw this screen all night. Great job of coverage as usual guys, Happy New Year.

The fireworks display after the ball dropped was quite impressive I heard (literally heard from about seven blocks away). The snippet you refer to is right here, maybe Begnoche is a little worried about his future, and so inadvertently slipped into the past.

I also noticed that webcam, and wasn't impressed. If you read the article from Stevey Benoche, he also ended the piece with a statement that the ball would be dropped to start the 2013 new year, not 2014, so cool, and professional.
