Just noticed today, this LFD crew also has a dog mascot. He smaller in the lap of the front row middle man sitting. Looks kinda like a pug/bulldog mix but X might know more. Was his name Torchy too? Or fireplug?

Ludington did use to have a couple of departments in town, one over in the fourth ward and one around the downtown area. It helped with the response time, particularly since the original engines were pulled by horses. You can bet there would be competition to be first to the fire at a place between the two of them. Nowadays, area fire departments routinely help out other area FDs at fire scenes, but they still have that germ of a competitive spirit between them.
