How vain and disgusting this entire thread is to me, as it should be to many others. Coy the Boy, a simple first grader, all of 7 years of age, wants to trump the entire United States legal, school, and California systems just because he feels the urge to do so? How vain, and how stupid can these adult parents be, or are they? Afterall, they have gained the attentions of not only the local school system, but the Cal. legal system, and now, the national media. Wow. Just think how famous this spoiled little kid and his entire family can become now, and God only knows, what legal mandates and precedents they can gain. Not to mention all the monetary benefits from those in feely-good posturing adults that also see this as something important. I'm just speaking as a simple straight male that didn't ask the entire country to look at me and ask for special treatment. Just another common person that doesn't want nor need special favors, just one asking why this kind of thing keeps appearing for the 15 minutes of fame that some have us to view and endure. Being that I wholeheartedly disagree with this entire scenario, well, to some, that makes me uncivil, biased, prejudicial, and just not fair. To that I say BS, I am entitled to my straight opinion just as much as any juvenile 7 year old is, if not way more. Berkly, the way you see this issue is probably that of about 5% of the entire nation, and you cannot, and will not, force this position of feely-good down my throat. Fact of the matter is, I don't like nor come to this forum to have such trivial crap put on my plate for consumption. Why not take this type of crap to another more appropriate forum for such debate? It surely doesn't fit in with the local politics of what this entire forum was supposed to be about. And since you just joined here a few days ago, why not try to ebb and flow with the membership?
First off, before I respond to your post, I'd like to thank you for being civil Willy. I knew going in that this blog was right wing, and that a lot of my opinions weren't going to be understood/ liked, or I was going to be interpreted as a troll. I thank you Willy, XLFD, and Dave for being adults, and not resorting to banning me ( or whatever). We may not agree on political issues, but I'm glad I'm able to share them with you. Maybe one day we'll all be able to see way more eye to eye.
The way I see this issue is that we don't need to adjust a lot in our lives in order to peacefully coexist with transsexual children. These kids who identify as transsexuals aren't asking for much. All they want is to use the bathroom that they feel comfortable using. Nobody is forcing the other children to look at their genitals, none of the transsexual kids are showing their genitals to others, and nobody is forcing them change their lives because of the fact that they're transsexual. They just want to go into a stall, sit in private, and use the bathroom like anyone else.
The fact is a lot of transsexual children don't know how to handle their situation. Coy was lucky enough to have a family take her to numerous medical professionals and psychiatrists, in order to figure out that she does have gender dysphoria. Other transgender kids don't have that. They live in situations where their families don't accept them, other children pick on them, and they don't know how to feel about their gender. School should be a place of understanding, community building, and offers all their students a safe place for learning, regardless of race, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientation, and gender. That's why I think it's so we allow transsexuals access to the bathrooms of their gender. By letting these people gain this freedom for the right to use the bathroom, we not only let this group of people gain the civil rights they so desperately want, but we also let the rest of the students expand their horizons of the rest of the world. Transsexuals aren't as common as the other people in the LGBT community, so when public institutions single them out by say, "no, you're not using this bathroom because you have a penis/vagina", it creates a atmosphere of isolation against the transgender individuals, causing more bulling and harassment, and less understanding. By creating a atmosphere of love, or at the very least tolerance, we begin the process of healing between LGBT people, and everyone who has harassed/bullied them.
I agree that there are individuals who are girl on the inside and boy on the outside and visa versa because I know some of those folks and life for them can be very confusing and I wish them well, however it's not up to the rest of us to readjust our lives and introduce that persons problems to our kids. I'm surprised Coy's parents are making him a poster child regarding this matter and spreading his image and life all over the media. What if Coy turned out to be a total boy after all. His parents have seen to it that that his life will never be the same. As someone else suggested this declaration that Coy is a girl may be premature.
"I'm surprised you just joined here, and have so much anxiety and anger against a new group of folks you should be in tune with, and making friends with. Otherwise, why did you join here? If you are such a gay advocate, please seek out that type of forum to vent your ideas and views, you will make many more friends there". Since I've meet you on here you've been biting my head off. When I said I've never on the Badger, you made a surly comment saying, "Can't and won't are two entirely different reasons. Btw, the tours of the Badger, at varying times of the season, are free of charge, and an easy bike ride or walk away from anywhere in downtown, so you can save gas money too, lol. The Badger also has a mini-cruise that doesn't cost hardly anything, and a 4th of July fireworks ride that is very cheap too. Consider those well known options into the future that all the other locals know about". You demand respect, yet you don't give any back. What makes you think I want to be your friend if you're going to make such rude comments against me because of my opinion, and my action ( or, lack of actions). I joined this blog for the same reason everyone else here joined. I think that the government is taking away our rights as Americans, and that peoples freedoms are being walked over. I'm going to voice my opinion regardless of whether or not people agree. I hold these beliefs because I genuinely agree to them. I don't care if everyone likes them, or no one does. Why is it that your freedoms are better then others? Why is it that you think that the freedoms that we experience shouldn't be spread to the minority groups as well? I'm going to fight for the freedoms of everyone, and that freedoms shouldn't be rationed to a select few.
"Your Berkley California mentality isn't exactly mid-western thinking berkly, and won't be attractive to many parents around here sir". I honestly don't mind what the other parents have to say. I support this minority group in it's goals towards gaining equality in a prejudice society.
"Take Coy the boy to any medical examiner and see what the Dr. says what sex he is!". The American Medical Association, and the American Physiological Association both agree that gender dysphoria is a real medical condition. She isn't faking, she isn't acting out, she isn't doing this for attention. She is, in all extensive purposes, and girl.
"What polls say is usually dependent on whom is polled". Here's the link showing the results of the Fox news poll. You'll see that there's a mix of political affiliation, gender, race, wealth, and age. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/interactive/2013/03/21/fox-news-pol...
"All I say is I'm tired of the few trying to implant confusion and deception into the American landscape, just to achieve some warped goal that only a very few are participating in". Who are these few, and what warped goal are they "trying to implant confusion and deception into the American landscape, just to achieve some warped goal that only a very few are participating in". I assume you're referring to people who are in support for LGBT rights, or maybe transgender individuals, however your statement was rather vague, so I'm not sure.
"Most poll takers just don't want to debate "politically unacceptable views", and I don't blame them. Every time they do, they run into the same kind of posts/reasoning/brick wall like you have here, to justify themselves". This is true, a lot of liberals don't listen to the opinions of conservative groups. However, this can also be true for conservative not listening to liberal groups. I'm really trying to understand right wing thought and ideology, but there are time where I have to step back, look at my moral compass, and say, "no". I'm not willing to stand by while the government continues to take basic human rights away from anybody. I'm not willing to let people be walked over by others. If I don't speak up for the minority when their rights are taken away, who'll speak up for me when my right are in the same boat.
Your Berkley California mentality isn't exactly mid-western thinking berkly, and won't be attractive to many parents around here sir. Take Coy the boy to any medical examiner and see what the Dr. says what sex he is! Doesn't matter what convoluted mindset he or his parents may have, it's a no-brainer, what's between the legs, is what we all are, not what's between the ears. What polls say is usually dependent on whom is polled. All I say is I'm tired of the few trying to implant confusion and deception into the American landscape, just to achieve some warped goal that only a very few are participating in. Most poll takers just don't want to debate "politically unacceptable views", and I don't blame them. Every time they do, they run into the same kind of posts/reasoning/brick wall like you have here, to justify themselves. "How can anyone with any biological/analytical thinking say Coy isn't a boy? The LGBT folks would have us believe anything that legitimizes their sexual orientation, is what all the rest of us have to accept and agree with". You don't have to agree to anything I say. In fact, I don't want you too. I believe people can say whatever they want too. All I ask is that you take my opinions into objective considerations as I have with yours. You don't have to respect my opinions, but I ask everyone ( including you, everyone in the forum, and me) keep a open mind, and not reside in their own political stances.
"Children are easily a new target for them to gain more recognition and acceptance, a tool for a means to an end". Well... yeah. Every organization that's trying to get their social stance heard uses children to their advantage. Both left wing and right wing. Is that okay to do? I'm really not sure, but what I do know is that, in my opinion, no person should be made discriminated against based on their gender, creed, religion, or ideology. And, unfortunately, thousands of LGBT citizens are continually being made to feel inferior to the rest of society, and if Coy Mathis's case can bring more equality to america, then it's a-okay in my book.
"If children have a sound home with both a father and mother, I suspect most of this malarkey wouldn't come about to begin with. Children need and require parents and teachers that are responsible examples that they can look up to, now down to". What do you mean? Coy has a loving dad, mom, and family to look after her. Their raising her like any of their other children, with the same amount of respect and caring for. She looks up to them like any other kid would.
"The 1% or fraction thereof here, need to adhere to principles of established mores, at least until they have become of age to decide such complex matters for themselves". Being a member of the LGBT community isn't really considered a mores anymore. Majority of the 1st world countries have come to that concision already. If anything, it's more of a folkway in America.
"Trying to confuse and fog these issues for the fixed agenda of LGBT lifestyles, is quite erroneous and infantile in it's conception, and must be treated as such by the majority". That's actually pretty interesting because recent polls have been showing more and more that the LGBT's plight is being supported at greater amounts every year (I've posted the links down below). American's are realizing that the struggle the LGBT community faces is something more that just marriage rights. It's about liberty, equality, and the freedoms that every human should be allowed to have.

1) Other girls wouldn't see her penis because she would be in a stall using the toilet. People don't urinate/defecate in the same stall, in the same toilet, at the same time. This really wouldn't be a problem other girls would have to go through.
2) "Liberals are not content until they can force everyone to believe and act as they do". That's a doubled edged sword. Member of both the left wing, and the right wing try to spread their beliefs onto one another. It's something humans have done since we've developed and organized thoughts. Liberals spread their beliefs onto Conservatives just as much as Conservatives spread their beliefs onto Liberals. Even though you may think you're just discussing your political opinions, it may appear to others as though you're trying to force them to believe what you want them to believe. Everyone who takes a stand on anything does it.
3) "I don't like others imposing their opinions, morals and ideals on children. That is the parents job." That's true. It is the parents job to discuss with their children how to behave, and act. However, I think it's a bad thing to indoctrinate children with your specific set of beliefs. By doing so we limit our children to a single idea rather then letting them decide what they believe is right and wrong. That's why whenever I talk to other peoples children about this kind of stuff, I usually say, "Well, I believe..." and end my statement by saying, "What do you think?". By doing so I don't force my morals onto others, and let people decide what they think is right. In this case, if I were to describe what a transsexual child was to another child, I'd say, " Well, this person, according to their genetics, was born in the body of a boy, but they really feel like they're a girl. What do you think?".
4) "Why don't you advocate this happening in adult toilets?". This whole discussion came about because of the case in California regarding transsexuals in public school bathrooms. If we were discussing a case about transsexuals in workplace bathrooms, then I'd be happy to bring that up.
5) "How is she genetically a girl if she is physically a boy?". I recommend looking at this article I posted earlier. It goes into details about how people are born physically one gender, but acting as though they're apart of the other gender.

Another question. How is she genetically a girl if she is physically a boy?
