Hitler was who he was. After he gained power he actually did a good job of bringing Germany back from economic ruin but being who he was at his core, his true nature revealed it's ugly head. If he had more talent he might have been Germany's best architect but even then his evil would have shown itself in some form or another. One does not try to exterminate an entire population without being evil. This was his nature. If Hitler had not emerged, there were thousands more waiting in the wings who could have accomplished his dastardly deeds. After all he didn't act alone. He had millions of helpers who backed him.There are amongst us truly evil people who, when given the opportunity, will unleash mayhem and destruction. Neither Hitler nor anybody else who shares his mentality will be deterred from doing evil by "love". It would be nice to think so but reality and the bloody mess these people leave in their wake proves differently.

Admitted, it's good to have at least one foot in reality, but who's to say that Hitler's, Amin's, or most every other bad guy's rise to evil infamy could have been prevented or muted with some simple event in their lives which had them putting their energy towards positive pursuits.  A case in point: what if Hitler had had more artistic talent, and/or had someone nurture him in that field?  Would he have came back from WW1 to continue coursework in art, instead of taking his baneful course in world history?

He's describing the human race as it has been since the beginning. Nothing new here except another young person thinking that "love" is going to stop the Hitlers and the Idi Amin's of the World. I guess it's nice to dream but a large dose of reality is essential when analyzing the World and it's future.
