My kid wants to sing. I thought, why not find a church with a choir, alot of performers got their start in choirs.

So, what church within say an hours drive has a choir?

Lots of churches used to have choirs, anymore, I don't know. If she's loving gospel music, you might want to consider buying some of Elvis's older CD's. He is the all-time best seller of that type of music, and she can sing along everyday at home or wherever, not just Sunday's, and without the travel.

The United Methodist Church on Bryant Road has a choir.

We went and watched the show at OMC last night. They had about 7 kids in their youth choir.

No, she doesn't like the music but hopefully can tolerate it, but will sing it if that is the only shot she can get. I am trying to find somewhere for her to sing. I thought of it when I was watching the xmas show at school. That was the first time she was ever in a church last night!!

A lot of famous people started out in church choirs, so hopefully this can be a start on the road to fame!

UMC like max said...not O--typo

You live way out east I believe Lando, why not check out a Sunday school and choir closer to home, for safety's sake, it is slippery and dangerous all winter. Plus she might have schoolmates and friends out there to enjoy this experience with. We had to go to both sunday school and church till about the age of 17 when I was a kid. It was a good experience and learning lesson.

Music programs in schools are usually the best with emphasis on music theory etc. Guitar lessons and of course keyboard lessons are important too.  There are talent competitions but most importantly private training is vital

Today, youtube seems to be the way many get noticed and get their start in music.
