Chris and Kathy Newsome, about a week ago, made a discovery off the shores of Lake Michigan in the Nordhouse Dunes (Grant Township). Wayne Lusardi, maritime archeologist for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, said he isn’t sure what boat it is at this time. He said there are probably about 40 shipwrecks off shore near Ludington, including the Lizzie Doak, a 75-foot boat that sunk near the shore on Aug. 30, 1892. Nice catch X. You have your granddads eye for nautical observation.

That's two different crews you have, and only one boat.  The top picture is more likely, with the continuing quests for expanding our dog beaches, and the inability of cats and dogs to successfully navigate on watercraft combining together to create a perfect storm of a disaster.  Toonces (remember him) was probably at the wheel.

I found some old pictures of the boat and crew. They look vaguely familiar.
