CPS takes child  why does this CPS not actually investigate neglected children who are abused and starving.

"A Sacramento couple is without their 5 month old baby after Child Protective Services sent in the police to forcibly remove the child from their care.

A hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 29, 2013 on the incident which was triggered when Anna Nikolayev and her husband Alex took baby Sammy out of Sutter Memorial Hospital and sought a second opinion at Kaiser Permanente, a rival hospital, for Sammy’s flu-like symptoms.

Anna and Alex were concerned about the quality of care baby Sammy was receiving at Sutter where he was admitted nearly two weeks ago. At one point, Anna questioned the antibiotics Sammy was being given and was alarmed that the nurse administering the treatment didn’t know why the child was receiving them. Anna claims that a doctor later said that Sammy should not have been receiving the medication.

When doctors began discussing the possibility of heart surgery, the parents decided to leave without a proper discharge in order to have the child examined elsewhere." from the article linked above

Jane, I have shared your article with a young couple I know who are going through similar problems with the CPS.  They took their nearly two year old child to the hospital, seeking medical care for the child who had tipped his high chair back up against the wall, and had their child taken away because of an opinion of a medical doctor that the injury may have been due to child abuse.  No history, parental proclivity, or other evidence of such was needed.

The child's injury was consistent with the claimed accident, and I wholeheartedly believe the young parents involved, just as I believe the parents in your article.  Don't believe that nationalized health care won't precipitate even more of this disgusting behavior by government agencies that should protect babies that are truly being abused, not go after injured or sick kids that are brought to hospitals by caring parents.

When I was a kid we went out to the barn after a 4H meeting at my aunts house and Smokey, this really mean quarter horse charged me and bit me under the arm and knocked me down, even though there were witnesses of the other people around the hospital gave my parents a hard time about the bruise from the horse bite. and that was 30 years ago, I can only imagine what parents go through now days. I was/am lucky that my child is not prone to climbing/clumsyness/injury that causes bruises, although seems to twist her ankle every other day and gets lots of scratches from dogs paws.
