Ruby King Becomes a Queen

On Saturday night in Port Huron, a local girl won the right to represent not only us here in Mason County, but the state of Michigan as well.  Ruby King of Ludington was awarded the title of Miss Michigan Teen USA.

With music booming in the background, the Miss Michigan Teen USA contestants walked out on stage in red dresses and sashes to introduce themselves in the beginning of the show.

Soon after, the announcers named the top 15 contestants chosen for Miss Michigan USA and Miss Michigan Teen USA. People in the audience cheered and applauded as each one was named.

Contestants competed in swimsuit and evening gown competitions and did personal interviews on stage.

After winning the title of Miss Michigan Teen USA, King, Miss Mason County Teen USA, said she was “happy” and “speechless.” King will go on to compete in Miss Teen USA competition.

“I knew I’d get into the top 15,” King said. “Other than that, it was a toss up."

Congratulations to Miss Ruby King as she goes for the national title.  She is a junior at Ludington High School, the daughter of local dentists Dan King and Carissima "Kelly" Aloe, which accounts for that winning smile!  Here's a picture of the happy dad with his precious gem.
