To use a phrase somewhat applicable to this marina and watershed talk, just remember you guys are all on the same boat. There is not one tact that will magically and immediately solve the problem, if there was, one of us relatively smart folks would have figured it out by now. I am encouraged that the commenters here, who believe that there is a problem with the status quo as pertains to the governments involvement, have a variety of viewpoints and ideas.
A boat where everybody paddles on the same side, is destined to go around in circles. Only when both sides are oared is any progress made. Thanks to all who have their paddles dipped into the water already.
JFH, how can I be wrong, and about what exactly? You talk like you alone have been seriously financially affected, when you are a bystander in Muskegon for all we know. You talk in circles many times, and that's hard for most to people to understand. You haven't answered any valid questions I've posed for your Transparency videos now for weeks on end, another questionable trait. In all candid observations, I only see you dodging realities, and living in some fantasy world. I offer suggestions to get your movements off the ground, and you say it's no body's business how and when you do that. HOW do you expect anyone to join your efforts, when it's core is a secret to you, and no one else needs to know? Today's tools for alerting the public is the best you can do in your fight to change things? Okay, post your stuff on facebook, or twitter, see how that goes then. Maybe you'll attract a groundswell of thousands of viewers, and posts about the problems. So WHAT! That still won't change anything at the City and State levels. How much law have you studied either at school or on your own? I know I have at both levels. It took an "outdated and old" Supreme Court to seat a President not so long ago too, 2004 I believe, not chaos in the street, nor a recount of votes either. From the looks of things on my end, being a Ludington resident, entrepreneur, Charter Capt., and actively involved in these matters for about 36 years or so, I'd say you need all the encouragement and advice you can muster up right now, not a cold and despondent response to others.
AQUQMAN, you are wrong. However the public has a right to all sides of the motivations that have or are taking place. I've been the object of the local news in the past. I'm more confident than you about using today's tools for alerting the public. I do appreciate your thoughts and concern. They provoke good provocative thinking. JFH
JFH, how do you suppose to take another path now, and be specific? I mean you already have all our attentions, and perhaps that of a couple of dozen officials here and in the State agencies. I know for a fact a marina owner that you are closely associated with that has spent every waking moment of his free time for three years working on this project too. What do the two of you have to show for it so far? Yes, you have uncovered many more illegal activities and wrong-doings than previously, but, what has it done to change things as we know them now? I may be wrong, but it appears you expect a public outcry and uprising as a result of your investigations and videos. Good luck, I really doubt it's forthcoming though. Nice try, but you guys need to quit talking and protesting, and get some serious paperwork going to make a real difference. Even then, it's a toss of the coin imho. You can "blab" all you want to, but, who's listening outside of maybe a hundred total people, and that's a stretch, with all due respect. XLFD has also blabbed for 7 years now, and he only got some relief after he won his cases in court. Of course the guilty ones just wrote it off on their insurance policy, and then claimed it was a hollow victory, due to technicalities, lol.
AQUAMAN, I would say nice try, but I will say the recipe you spelled out is old and outdated. The only winners in such a scenario are attorneys. There is a method to the madness you are describing which is not to follow that bumpy road. I know you're supporting what is right, you and I just won't agree on the pathway. Your comments, however, remain welcomed because they serve to see another point of view as you see multitasking work. I look forward to an opportunity to engage you face to face. I hope the videos remain out front because I believe this is the best way to inform the public. I would suggest people investigate "blab". This free software will be next to create an unlimited townhall meeting from their computer or mobile device to bring thousands together and face to face. Social media has changed the rules and writing new recipes. JFH
I too support Jefferson and his efforts. However, what you have unveiled is a muti-faceted maze of problems, including but not limited to a whole host of city and state agencies. I think it would be more positive and successful to concentrate on just one problem at a time. You are spreading yourselves too thin in all areas, to accomplish true success in any one area by itself. Take a good attorney, have him digest and concentrate on that specific issue, ask for public and private support in a class-action suit, and then wait 5 years for any court-related improvements or decisions. That's our process here in America these days. It's that, or willy-nilly around in the dark with all this information and steam, and watch it go down the drain with denials and lies by your agencies. That's all you have up to now so far, and all you will continue to get in the future imho, with all due respect to all involved.
No I am not only concerned with dredging but at least we could operate a business like you did this year. Please don't put words in my mouth as I wont yours! There is no doubt about the corruption in the COL, this I will never debate but at least we have a man like Jeff that is not afraid to take on these sob's! And yes Aquaman I agree with you 100% about the Ludington officials and am willing to challenge them with support behind Jefferson!
So, the author here is saying they are most concerned with dredging and cleaning up the PM bayou area, the watershed near the Washington Ave. bridge? What has that to do with the unfair competition of State funded marinas against private enterprise? That in itself is a completely separate can of worms imho. Was the COL's fault directly when we had flooding in Mason County some 8 years ago or so. That is another infrastructure failure by COL that flooded the PM Lake with sewage for weeks on end, and the DNR never made any fines or threats on the COL afterward. Had that been any private property owners land where the run-off did this, we would have been crucified with penalties and put in prison. The COL is basically bullit-proof for all intents and purposes, they do whatever they want and get away with it at all levels of society. And this is the worst bunch of cronies and crooks ever to run Ludington yet in history!
Wow look how the views have surged! Thank you Jeff for your hard work! I know of a place that has been there forever and only had 1-2 boats in it this year and is basically out of business because the COL will not remove their road and sewage out of it that has been there since 2008. Silly Shay its not the water levels why we want it cleaned up, its YOUR contamination and everyone that is east of the drain and all of their continued run off without maintenance! I am thankful for Jeff and all his work and will continue to support him.
