Surprisingly, I finally received something from the Mason County Sheriff's Office without them declaring some unlawful form of immunity from the state's public records law.  Even more surprisingly, it was something that made Ludington's media sweetheart, Ariel Courtland, look as if she was guilty of a crime, and not above lying to the police.

Now surely, there must remain a presumption of innocence before the matter is adjudicated, but the initial evidence presented in the report make it look as if she has an uphill climb.

The victim reports being struck with her fist three times, that she broke a window on a shed, and struck him in the gut with a wine bottle.  The witness states he saw the punches, and the rest of the altercation.  Ariel herself gets caught in a lie in regards to a previous incident (soon to be requested from LPD) and tells a much different story of her own victimization that day and since her last interaction with local police.

For those who wish to side with Ariel's relation of events, they can decide to believe her when she said that the witness "beat the sh*t out of her" two nights previously, and believed that he and Jeremy Foreman created a similar narrative against her, using just enough facts to mostly concur with Ariel's version.

One must lend some credence to Jeremy Foreman's story, since he did call 9-1-1 surely knowing that he was in violation of the terms of his existing bond by drinking.  It makes a lot more sense than her narrative too with all the evidence in this case.  So if this turns out to be the case:

1)  Ariel looks to have lied to police during an investigation of a potential felony of assault and battery in this case.

2)  Ariel looks to have lied to police during an investigation of a potential felony of domestic abuse two nights before this incident.

3)  Ariel looks to have ____ to police during an investigation of a potential felony of unlawful imprisonment/murder of her daughter, Baby Kate.

Those who have been paying enough attention to notice the differences in her original police interview and her testimony at the preliminary trial and beyond, know what four letter word fits.  The only question that remains is whether it was to protect herself or whether it was part of her normal pathology.
