As you can see, the Committee for a Stronger Ludington has taken to the airwaves on 10-11-12 to get their proposal passed by making a Facebook page which features what appears to be their future yard sign for their cause:

Jason Wolven offers a good suggestion about actually displaying what this proposal actually does, rather than just offer some superlatives about it.  They did put something up this morning in the "about" section:

Vote YES ON CITY PROPOSAL on November 6th to increase mayoral term limits. Ludington has tremendous momentum and many things on the horizon. Support a stronger Ludington by increasing our rights.

Description
A YES VOTE ON THE CITY PROPOSAL MEANS:

1. Increasing the number of terms a Mayor may serve from 3 to 5
2. Gaining the right to retain an effective Mayor
3. Preserving the right to vote out an ineffective Mayor

VOTE YES ON THE CITY PROPOSAL ON NOV. 6th!

https://www.facebook.com/#!/StrongerLudington?fref=ts

Beyond arguing the point that retaining an effective mayor is a God-given "right", the most interesting thing I see occurring here is that four organizations quickly came on board to support Mayor Henderson, although this site was only started around 5:00 PM yesterday.  The City of Ludington (a public entity Mayor Henderson is part of, many officials/employees not supportive of the issue), Downtown Ludington (a public entity Mayor Henderson, his daughter is part of, where the largesse of public dollars is spread to favored businesses and cronies), Ludington & Scottville Chamber of Commerce (Brandy Henderson, the daughter runs 'communications' there) and the Ludington Daily News (big surprise that).

These are at the forefront of the entities that would benefit from a fourth and fifth term for John Henderson as mayor of Ludington.  If you truly want a stronger Ludington, why would you vote for more of the same stale ideas, nepotism, cronyism,  and neglect of public safety and infrastructure?

One really needs look no further than the water tower painting to see how incompetent these people are.  Talked into painting the two water towers at least ten years before they should be painted, the city signs a contract to have them both painted for $1.2 million, nearly one million more than they painted the towers back in 2000, adjusted for inflation.

They then allowed the weasels who they signed this contract with to not paint the one tower in 2010, 2011, and then they didn't start putting paint on this year until the first day of autumn (probably responding to me telling them in early September that they wouldn't be painted once again this year).  They have been out there painting at temperatures in the low 40s, with primer and paint not meant to be applied and/or cured at those temperatures.

But why should the company care?  They can paint the water tower once again as early as 2019 under a new multimillion dollar contract.

Today they put up some more stuff at their website  Eye on a Stronger Ludington, pretty much the same stuff they had before.  Even though I hadn't put anything on the site except for the above, and some respectful questions about term limits and 'rights', I have been blocked off contributing to the group.  Maybe it was the counter-group I started up  Committee for a Stranger Ludington

Wait a minute. "Eye on a stronger Ludington", "Eye on Ludington". It just dawned on me who the Eye character represents and and why they were so obstinate about supporting the City Council and LDN. I bet they are one and the same.

Ill tell you what I just noticed.  I checked the link to the stronger post and saw that the City of Ludington, Downtown Ludington, and Ludington Daily News were no longer on the like list of the C4ASL Facebook page, even though the screen shot above shows them there.  Did they have second thoughts, or did whoever was responsible for the page have to take them off when they found out?

I think they are at least under the same direction, the C4ASL Facebookers and the EOL site.  No big surprise there.

Another question

Why is the Community for a Stronger Ludington hiding behind this?  You cannot see who has liked the group, nobody has come forth to say they are spearheading the issue?  If I was going to do a term limit proposal, and it wouldnt be an increase, I would gladly show my John Hancock to everyone.

Good points Marty. Another question is how does increasing term limits for the Mayor preserve the right to vote out an ineffective Mayor? Esp. if that person runs for office unopposed? Literally speaking, given the lack of an opponent, the Mayor could cast a vote for himself and win without anyone else even voting, right? Another good point Marty makes is the way most people feel these days, they want term limits to decrease their time in office, not increase time, thus creating the new blood/face persons that must step forward to keep politics from becoming a cesspool of corruption, which is what we now witness due to being in office already too long.
