I'm glad nothing important is happening in the world....

So that the president can take the time to fill out his NCAA bracket picks after doing some golfing this weekend.

Luckily there wasn't any major earthquakes or tsunami's anywhere in the world or civil unrest in the middle east... oh wait...

I have to agree w/ Lisa. I don't see what he has to do with Japan. Offer help to them from our agencies and people who are capable of helping with the topic at hand, If they want help fine, if not then fine too.

I think it is stupid that he says anything about it other than "I'm sorry, please say a prayer for Japan and its people"; that is all that he needs to say. Otherwise he looks like the typical USA trying to get up in everyone else's business. Really, aside from our people who are there being removed we have no business being involved(aside from an offer of assistance) unless they ask for our opinion or help.

Basically I would just like to see him speak up on the important issues and put the unimportant ones in the background. Instead of offering up his NCAA brackets on TV, maybe appearing on one of the news channels offering words of comfort to Japan. He just seems disconnected to what's going on at times.. been a problem with him through out his presidency at times.

The President must have heard you Dave.

Below from CNN website:

More from U.S. President Barack Obama's statement outside the White House: He said that the United States is doing all it can to help Japan, and that the U.S. government has flown "hundreds of missions" and distributed thousands of pounds of food and water.

We are "sharing expertise, equipment and technology," Obama said, adding: "The Japanese people are not alone in this time of great trial."

Obama also said that the United States has a "responsibility to learn" from the nuclear disaster in Japan. As a result, the federal government is undertaking a comprehensive review of the situation there, he said.

I think all our countrymen know by now, the new Prez. is and has been over his head in these duties since day one. He's only Johnny on the Spot when he deems it his personal peeve concern, otherwise, he's pretty delayed and indifferent for many reasons. I do suppose the new job has way too much pressure and discomfort for a community organizer type, and that bespeaks of his immaturity and lack of experience for preparedness and serious work. If he put half the energy into the responsibilities as he does his prolonged speeches, we'd have captured lightning in a jar, but that's too much to expect now at this late date.

Lisa if everone just talked about Japan I would agree with you, but narrow minded people just talk about one Item.  This discussion has been about several items.   Please expand your ideas.

JB,

Why don't you check out the White House web site - it lists all of President Obama's s activity's. Looks like he has been pretty busy all week.

Lisa I was talking about you being only on the Japan railway.

Rom

You just did exactly what you complained about.

Not knowing what other forums you may frequent Rom, but typically forums that deal more with politics and stuff you'll see more people complaining and taking notes of things that politicians are doing. If you want friendlier topics and less complaining, may I suggest a knitting forum :-)
Lisa, those Red Cross and NRC efforts are SOP, standard operating procedure, that the Prez. really doesn't get personally involved in anyhow, they just are what they are, given a crisis anywhere on earth and in foreign countries. Has been for many decades, wake up gal. So, what is it "Specifically" that the Prez. has done lately that bespeaks of "real leadership and crisp new actions" that hasn't taken away from his partying, BB forecasts, and golf? And don't use the "dogma" speeches and WH releases that come automatically with the daily territory please.
Wow is it Carinval time in Reo?   Is the Pres just going to show his family, men dressed as women and the proper use of peacock feathers.  Guess nothing inportant has to be done here.   He has Hillary.
You know what is really sad here?? I laughed when I learned that the Democrat party kind of threw Hillery under the bus, in favor of Barrack... I now wish Hillary had been the Democratic Candidate, as at least she had leadership skills that would not have made us look like a laughing stock to the international community.
