Please be aware that LAS - esp Franklin elementary have a few parents that are offended by people who like to exercise their right to free speech. So next time you pick your child up, remember to keep your opinions to yourself - no matter what they are - you may just get called into the principal's office and told to stop!!!

Also - if your child goes missing don't expect them to call the cops right away like the should.  My friend's child along with 2 other children went missing for over 10 minutes after recess was over before the teacher noticed they were gone.  Do you think the cops were called? Hell No!!!  The teacher (if you can call her that) finally noticed that 3 girls were missing from her classroom over 10 minutes after recess was over!!!!! thankfully the girls were found safe and just hiding in the bathroom, but who knows what could of happened to them in that time frame????  Mr. Dekuiper and Mrs. Large claim the teacher handled it the correct way and nothing further was done about the situation.  LE was contacted and sheriff Fiers stated LE should have been called right away and that a complaint with CPS could be filed and that this needed to be made public.......so here it is........my friend doesn't have an account on here so I am doing it for her

I don't understand how a teacher can not notice 3 empty seats in the class for 10 minutes especially right after recess. After scolding the teacher I would spank all of the kids for pulling a stunt like that.

What exactly were the procedures the teacher followed?  Just to be clear, Franklin is for the very young, Kindergarten to 2nd grade, and one would hope the teacher would notice three kids missing, since I am presuming they are with the same teacher all day, so they would know who was absent. 

If this is an isolated incident with this teacher, and DeKuiper and Large are sincere that the teacher handled it correctly, I would write it up as an oversight by the teacher and a reminder to all teachers particularly young elementary, that they need to be alert at all times, for this could have been a disaster.

the kids were missing for at least 15minutes total - the police should have been called at the very least - do you know what could of happened in that time frame?  Thankfully nothing did happen BUT thats not the case...and its not an isolated incident, just a few weeks ago, one of the girls that was part of the missing group was out of the classroom on a special assignment and when the parent called the teacher that evening to ask about it, the teacher had no idea the child was gone!!!! HELLO!!!!  yes they are with the same teacher all day, and the kids that were missing were all from the same classroom.............

Dekuiper is just covering for a teacher that shouldnt even be teaching................this is just one of many things that have happened in this classroom

If Franklin school doesn't have a written policy on how to react to such a situation, the administrators will fall back on saying that procedures were followed.  I encourage you and your friend to get proactive and make sure there is a more defined policy that addresses your concerns, so that the next time something like this happens, it won't be just an office staff search posse that's organized.

Even Walmart calls the police if a child doesn't turn up within 10 minutes.. actually think its less before they will call. They have a couple steps they take when you hear a "Code Adam" get paged out, from the greeters from the front door not letting anyone with children leave til they get the all clear call to the workers on the floor looking through every aisle until the child is found.

Angela, although I think that you probably think you are speaking in an intelligent manner......after reading your response, the first thought that came to my mind was "you can take the girl outta the trailer park, but you cannot take the trailer park out of the girl". Lol...but I will entertain your comment. LAS is a school of choice, you don't like it, do us a favor and leave. No one has a problem with freedom of speech, that is why I feel the need to exercise mine in it's raw form right now! Honestly, it appears that you need to stop using this forum as a way to back stab and start rumors....just saying. My guess it's that you are a 50+ year old lonely female searching for attention.  I would like to close by saying, that I sure hope you have a wonderful day, and remember, God Love All His CREATURES (even those in trailer parks).

No, it does not make sense, what in the original thread talks about is an incident that happened at the school, but Jb goes on about backstabbing and rumors, what of it is backstabbing or rumors? To be backstabbing it needs to have a front facing relationship to begin with. it appears in the first paragraph angela is speaking of people who are speaking there opinion about others loudly enough that they can hear and to me if that is anything it is bullying, which is a huge problem in the entire country, because so many parents talk s**t about other parents and then the kids start doing it to each other, how can we expect it to ever stop if the parents lead by example.

To be a rumor it needs to *not* have actually happened.

And as far as it being a school of choice, it is not as there are not any other schools in the LAS district that a person could 'choose', there is not any longer Hamlin, or Foster or Summit etc..

Unless you can explain something that I am not seeing it appears to me this Jb may be the one that was doing some chit chat about other parent at school and is now a bit PO's for being (anonymously)  called out for it? Why else the malevolent backlash of opinion.

Jb's comments don't make sense, she does not relate them to the threads original post at all.

You are so correct about freedom of speech.  The Constitution of the United States affords each and every individual that right. With the freedom afforded you by our wonderful system here in America, you are able to post irresponsible self promoting propaganda that serves as nothing more than a catalyst to propigate discord.   While America does afford you your First Amendment Rights, plenty of individuals have lost their employment due to irresponsible posts in public forums that discredit co-workers or the institution you serve.  This is not the proper forum to air the districts dirty laundry.  Every professional organization has internal controls and procedures to address complaints that you have.  Be glad that I did not see Ms. Barnowski's name appearing on a public forum covering a topic concerning work.

Josephina, instead of issuing personal attacks against Angela's character, why don't you tell us officially what happened in the incident above?  And don't come on here with an attitude that you think you know what this is the proper forum for.  We'll air the district's dirty laundry in order to get to the truth, if need be. 

Angela may be rough around the edges, but I credit her sincerity and veracity more than someone who comes here and calls her 'trailer park' material.

As you can see, I have the ability to think outside of the box as well as inside the box.   Having been vigilant for some time, but silent,  I must admit that the ferocious tenacity that I have witnessed  has been  very mean spirited.  You are quick to jump to the aid of your friend, but what about all of the innocent victims she has bashed and discredited.  The weak, the meak and those that are otherwise bleak, all need a voice. I will share with you this wisdom, a sword has no strength unless the hand that holds it has courage.   Good Night.
