Its a shame that the OWS protesters are so disrespectful to other people... it would probably go a long way to wider acceptance of the general public if they were. Sadly, they apparently have the mentality that they deserve things... which they don't. I got a feeling that the Occupy encampments wont be around much longer, with winter coming in I think the cities will make the Occupiers finally go home as they don't want to be responsible for the protesters if a bunch of them froze to death. With the problems that have been arising at the different encampments of late, I don't see how the cities can do anything else but move the protesters along.

A business owner near the Occupy Wall Street encampment claims she has been repeatedly harassed and threatened with bodily harm by protesters after she and her employees refused to give in to their outlandish demands.

“I’ve been told, ‘Watch your back!’ 10 times,” Stacey Tzortzatos, owner of Panini & Co. Breads, located across from Zuccotti Park, told The Post yesterday.

She and her employees are terrified by the constant threats, which she said began after she demanded the protesters stop using her shop’s restroom as a place to bathe every day.

The final straw came about two weeks ago, when the demonstrators broke a bathroom sink, flooding the shop, and clogged the toilet -- setting her back $3,000 in damages.

She put up a sign that said the bathroom was out of order, but they tore it down shortly afterward, she said.

“I have the police in here 10 times a day, [and] I’m the bouncer. I’ve been called the spawn of the devil. “It’s unbelievable what goes on in here every day, ” Tzortzatos said.

And on Friday, she said, a crazed squatter burst into the shop and demanded that workers fill a 10-gallon container of water.

When they refused, “he banged it on the ground and started yelling” and threatened the staff, she said.

“He said he was entitled to have it for free.”

Tzortzatos said the unsafe conditions begin at around 5 p.m. every day, when “they come from the park drunk, under the influence of something.

“They use one of our doorways as a bathroom, and we have to scrub it down every morning.

“I’ve had people come in here and yell, ‘Boycott! Boycott!’

“They unplugged my ATM machine and plugged in their computers,” Tzortzatos said.

Another businessman, who complained to The Post about the squatters’ behavior last week, said yesterday that the situation has since deteriorated, adding, “You don’t know the half of it.”

But the protesters appear to be digging in, erecting three of what will eventually be more than two dozen, 16-by-16-foot military-style tents that will help them stave off hypothermia in the coming winter.

I have to give the Tea Party credit for having more common sense.  They rarely protested for extended periods in colder temperatures.  Plus, from what I hear, local establishments would do better business when the Tea Party was protesting nearby

you lost me on that one x, the tea party is nothing but racist group of I-got-mine-screw you-hypocrites.

I respectfully invite you to defend those assertions about the Tea Party then, Snide.   I agree with most of their platform, and I see nothing in their positions based on race or overt hypocrisy.

okay, fair enough. Here is my big gripe with the tea partiers right here in Mason Co. The big thing around tea partiers seems to be "that damn Obama is spending too much of our money". First I question where were you between 2000-2008(when a non-black president blew through 11trillion)?but I digress-- on to the wonderful GOPers in Riverton and Summit townships that where it seems EVERY farmer says the same thing. Here's where the hypocracy kicks in. WINDMILLS--- this project will be funded by subsidies to the tune of 10+ MILLION.Was put through by our wonderful county comm.and "planners" and zoning---all REPUBLICAN. Yet NO tea-partier has said one word about that. Why, because the folks that signed up (virtually all GOP land owning farmers)will collect 20-30k per year by putting one up. Another reason is that it doesn't have anything to do with Obama being black.

Snide

You'll get no argument from me about the wind turbines.  I agree with you completely. I think the actual amount that Consumers will be receiving is about 75 million of our hard earned tax dollars. However you are confusing the tea party with the Republican party. The tea party is not about republicans. The tea party is fed up with both parties. It was Obama and his followers who tried to link the tea party to the Republicans and racism. The tea party wants the government, no matter which party is in charge, to act responsibly. It was Obama care that sparked the tea party rallies. Besides, there is no such thing as a tea party. It is not an organization. It is a mindset of a lot of people who are fed up with our corrupt government and includes people of all races, ages, backgrounds and political leanings. If you have attended any of the wind turbine meetings you would have seen that almost 90% of those attending were against them. Those 90% would probably be classified as having a tea party mindset. You have been listening and believing the liberal media and the lies they are spreading. If you dig into the wind turbines  situation you will find that Granholm was the big catalyst for pushing the turbines. She was a Democrat. I'm sure she had support from both of the incompetent parties.

Thanks for the kind words , Willy. i think no matter the political leanings ,we all really want the same things. that being said , I think there are a couple of glaring holes in your argument.

First, you say in the above post that I am "Confusing the tea party with the Republican party".  While you CLAIM that tea partiers come from all views and economic backgrounds, I'd be willing to bet that 90% of folks that say the are in the "tea party" vote Republican. While I don't know where that info could be found or if it exists--- I would direct you to the logo of the tea party right here on this blog that shows TWO RED ANGRY ELEPHANTS ! Just who is that logo pandering to....hmmmmm?

Second, you talk about Obamacare being the spark that set off the tea party. What part of our woefull healthcare industry DON'T you want changed....? I could bore you with the details of two cases right here in Ludington in my own family where insurance providers dictate the care that my family gets.In case #1 my mother(even though FULLY insuredby TWO carriers)had to wait TWO YEARS for back surgery. Case #2 my own wife is/has gone deaf in one ear--has been reffered to the local ear nose throat doctor but cant get in

until JANUARY ! I consider both of these things total bullshit and can't wait for a better system. The only people crying about it are the greedy insurance companies and the doctors that play ball with them--they don't want oversight. So they go on FAUX NEWS and cry. As for Granholm, while she DID inherit a mess from Engler. I agree with you she did absolutely nothing !

Snide

Sorry about your problems with your insurance company but I can assure you that if  Obama care goes into full swing you will have a much harder time getting proper care. Can you name any government agency that survives without a huge influx of tax dollars? The current problems in the health care system can be adressed by legislation aimed at those specific problems. An entire take over of the health system by the government is not the way to go. I'm surprised that you put that much trust in the government. The same government that is taking us into bankruptcy.  As far as the locals that have the 2 elephant logo, that is just an individual, local thing thought up by locals  which must satisfy their needs to express themselves.

thanks for your concern...!---- But I doubt that legislation would cure any ails because of the graft that goes on(meaning thats probably how it got that way). An entire takeover of both healthcare and (especially)the oil business could only help ,IMO.

Now we just need HONEST people working in government and we can't even get that in Ludington...!

That sucks about the issues with the insurance companies Snide, its really to bad when business co-ops the health of people.

Anyhow, as far as Obamacare goes, I'm not a fan. While I would agree that there are plenty of things that could be done within the health care industry to improve, to totally revamp it I think is a mistake. One of my favorite examples I liked to use when the bill was going through congress was this: In an effort to rearrange the furniture, would you burn down your house? My guess is your answer would be no. I'd much rather that the most messed up parts of the insurance/medical system be addressed and get those fixed instead of trying to fix parts of the system that were not broke to begin with.

When you had people like Nancy Pelosi get up in front of reporters and say that 'we'd find out what was in the bill once it was passed' or Rep John Conyers saying that of course they haven't read the bill, since it was so big.. it doesn't exactly install much faith in their bill.

Have you asked any of the doctors that you or your family goes to how they feel about Obamacare? The doctors that I and my folks use are not real big fans. I'm sure there are a lot of doctors that feel the same way..... of course I'm sure that there are plenty of doctors that probably like Obamacare too.

Snide

You actually prefer a huge amount of legislation that completely revamps health care to smaller specifically targeted legislation to try and correct specific health care issues. You don't think graft is involved with Obama care? You scare me Snide. Putting so much faith in our government. Why not have the Government control everything? Why not have them take over your workplace because according to you they can do a better job.

Snide, I really think you should take some time to actually read the health care bill. I believe you will be amazed at all the things in there that has NOTHING to do with health.

Also, the cost is something that cannot be sustained in this country, but, it does create a very big government endity, employing thousands.

If it is such a great plan, why are politicians not in it? They have their own health plan and are not subject to O'bama care.

If Obamacare had really been such a great piece of legislation, it would of truly been passed with support from both parties.  In the end, it still doesn't cover everybody anyway which I thought is what it was suppose to do.
