Saw on the front page of the Manistee paper as I was leaving work tonight that Meijer had made a presentation (I'm assuming to the city council or something along those lines) about putting a store in/around the Manistee area. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Good idea? Bad Idea?

Thanks Dave for bringing this topic up, as it helped me discover a source of community information based in Manistee as I was looking for more information about the likelihood of Meijers' in Manistee. That source is called ManisteeSpeaks; put it on your favorites list if you're from Manistee County or very close to it, as it basically serves Manistee County like the Ludington Torch primarily serves Mason County.
As you may know many public bodies of their community are saddled with the corrupt law firm known as Gockerman, Wilson, Saylor, & Hesslin PC serving as City and Village Attorneys. This is a firm that proudly stands behind corrupt public bodies that break the law, and allow them to freely do so to the detriment of the public that they also serve, and refuse to take an oath of office to the Constitution of Michigan and the United States as all public officers in Michigan are required to by law. A brief look through the archives of this site shows the basis of discontent with public bodies served by those lawyers. Coincidence?
But they do have a forum on this back from early 2012, when quite a few people commented on it. If you based this on how they felt, it looks like the community is for it. And it sounds like a better fit in the community than the Wal-mart that came up earlier expressing interest in the area (you may think otherwise, Dave, LOL). I think it is a good thing for those who live to the north of Manistee, but it will have bad effect on the other stores to the south of it especially. Since those living in Mason and points below will still be going to Amber Twp. Meijer's between Ludington and Scottville.
