Jaw-dropper: Teacher claims young student wasn’t ‘damaged’ when her....

ROSE CITY, Mich. – When Rose City middle school teacher Neal Erickson pleaded guilty to molesting one of his students a while back, most observers expected an open-and-shut case with the school community rallying around the teenage victim.

Neil EricksonAnd in some ways it was. Erickson was sentenced to 15-30 years in prison for carrying on a sexual relationship with a boy in his young teens between 2006 and 2009. That should have been the end of the horrific tale.

But seven teachers kept the controversy alive by rallying behind the rapist, going so far as to write letters to the sentencing judge, seeking leniency on his behalf. The letters were posted on a local blog, WBRC Teachers.

Perhaps the most disgusting letter was written by Erickson’s wife, Toni Erickson, a 15-year educator currently teaching at Ogemaw Heights High School. While her pleas on behalf of her husband may not be surprising, her suggestion that the victim was unaffected by the abuse is more than a little disturbing, particularly coming from a teacher.

“As for punishment, because I know that is something the community expects, hasn’t he been punished enough? He is losing a job he has held for 17 years and losing all future career potential as a teacher. …

“I have seen many delightful students who have been damaged by horrible events in their lives. While I acknowledge that Neal’s conduct with [the victim] was wrong, I do not believe he was damaged by Neal’s actions and I base my opinion on my personal interaction with [the victim], both before and after Neal’s actions. However [my daughter] very likely could be. Please don’t punish her by his absence in her life.”

So the real victim in the case is the rapist’s daughter, not the young student who was assaulted? This lady needs her head examined, and perhaps her teaching license permanently revoked.

There were other troublesome letters, as well.

Rose City Middle School English teacher Sally Campbell wrote to the court, “Please take into consideration his pleading guilty so as not to put this student through any more than what has already occurred.”

How charitable of the rapist to not force his victim to testify. Perhaps he deserves the keys to the city for that one.

“Although Neal has pleaded guilty to a single charge of criminal sexual conduct, evidence of this being a one-time incident reaffirms the fact that he is not a sexual predator,” wrote 4th grade teacher Marilyn Glover.

The abuse occurred over a 3-year period, according to various news reports. Without getting into the physics of it all, it’s highly unlikely it was a “one-time incident.”

Those seven teachers should not be teaching. I can't imagine anyone sticking up for that guy unless they themselves are perverts. Just think how far the liberal "diversity" thinking has gone and these 7 are prime examples. In what other ways are those teachers influencing the kids they are in charge of? If my kids were in that school I would make sure they did not have any of the "stupid seven" as instructors. Also, in my opinion, his wife is an idiot.

No doubt the brain-dead teachers are conflicted by the pro-gay agenda prominent in today's progressive teachers and the crime done here.  If it was a girl he buggered, would they be so vocal in their calls for leniency?  I would be looking for alternative education choices rather than Rose City or Ogemaw public schools.

From http://www.ogemawherald.com/stories/WB-RC-chooses-not-to-fire-teach... :  The West Branch-Rose City school board voted 4-2 Aug. 19 to require ethics training for the entire staff of the district, and to attempt to accommodate requests from parents who do not want their children in the [letter-writing] teachers’ classrooms.

Dick Bachelder and Pat Beasley cast the dissenting votes. Mike Eagan, whose wife was one of the letter writers, abstained from the vote.

After the meeting, Bachelder told the Herald he voted no because he didn’t think the recommendations were “stiff enough.”"

Craft your own double-entendre joke there.  Whereas the teachers have every right to support the molester, they also have the responsibility of teaching the children of their district the concept of what is "right".  How many of the impressionable kids of that district will grow up believing it's okay to do what Neil Erickson did because their favorite teachers rationalized that it was okay?

If you notice the people who want the teachers disciplined, reprimanded or face some sort of accountability for their actions are being described as a "mob mentality". And to say that the teachers are being "victimized" is about as stupid as you get. The person who said this as well as the writer of that article are absolute idiots because they are the mentally defective liberals that are creating an unstable social order. I included the article writer because most of the article quotes and focuses on the supporters of the teachers. Liberal bull sh_t. The citizens who want these teachers shunned are absolutely correct. They should not be teaching kids when they hold such twisted opinions. I wonder how many of the schools educators hold these same liberal ideals. I think the parents in that school district had better take a closer look at who is teaching their kids.

As we well experienced when another site was running, teachers seem to be sheep doing whatever their "leaders" say. Wonder what the backers of Obama care will say when their union backed pensions and golden health care plans are taxed for Obamacare.
