"The robot, in this particular case, probably saved that person their home because our next option would have been deploying gas throughout the house and trying to systematically push this person to an entrance to get him out of the house," Sheriff Cole explained.

What exactly was Sheriff Cole talking about when he was quoted saying that they saved that person their home?

Was he going to tear gas the house like the Branch Davidian's compound in Waco until it burned to the ground to flush out the suspect?

And what about the robot?

Is this some new toy Cole has got?  Or was it borrowed from another agency?

Remember when Cole wanted a robotic submarine to look for explosive devices under the Badger?

I hope he didn't use any County funds for this toy devise.

Body cams are a much more important need.

Anyway the robot didn't locate the suspect and the troops had to storm the house and find where he was hiding.

I hope Cole doesn't see this as a successful robotic operation.

The COLDNews had this story even more in depth today, but there are some things missing in the narrative from each.  They mention an arrest warrant from Texas and apparently a local warrant for providing false information, but never is there mention of a search warrant being sought out for this woman's home, nor is their anything saying that she consented to any searches of her house.  Allegedly seeing the suspect in a window does not give them license to search her house.  Having a robbery suspect from Texas hiding out in my county is less scary to me than having a sheriff who believes he and his minions can not only enter an innocent party's house without a search warrant, but obliterate that house if necessary to get his man.

On the lighter side, TV 9&10 are silly folks for saying East Brye Road.  Brye only goes north and south (only south in Summit Twp), and if it had been an east-west road, it would have been designated 'west' in that portion of the county.  You think they've been coming into Mason County for these incidences enough to figure that out by now.

The robot was probably Deputy Mike Fort wrapped up in aluminum foil.
