spam emails through torch

 Recieved spam through torch to personal email. Need better security to protect us from this. I will probable being delisting with  the torch...poor setup..........

Your computer must be set up to receive spam. You can block the spam yourself. I've never received spam thru the Torch.

Unfortunately, we do receive spam attacks occasionally on this site, because we allow people to instantly sign up for the site and get right on.  But there is a quick way to avoid spam attacks being sent to your E-mail, if this is happening.  Here is the way to stop that: 

1)  Go to your own page 

2)  click on your avatar photo and then click on "change photo" 

3)  This should get you to the "my settings" page, find the 'E-mail' link on blue, to the left of the screen, along with a lot of other blue links 

4)  Modify the E-mail notifications accordingly.  You can choose never to get notified about anything on the Torch, or you can be notified whenever just about anything happens.  Even I, the site creator, choose the former because I have enough things coming to me on my E-mails. 

 

As for the six days a week influx of breakfast spam, that may be corrected when the new version of Ning comes out in the near future, and we can block offending IP addresses more easily.  Please bear with us, I usually wipe them out early.

I got one too through a friend request. She probably wants me to get her wired money, but only if I pay a certain amount...haha.

those seem to pop up as new members very early in the am. nothing we can do but delete them, they are automated spambots
