West Michigan Cop Involved in Drunken Collision at Strip Club Resigns

Springfield cop possibly drunk,arrested: woodtv.com

The Real Story Behind the Story

Last month an off-duty Springfield (a suburb of Battle Creek) policeman had a 'situation'.  After a night of 'research' at a local strip club, he made a brief miscalculation of turning radius, and left a mark on a parked pickup truck.  In his rush to report this incident to the nearby police department, he forgot to leave his contact information back at the scene of the accident.  He also, in his haste, left the parking lot and shortly  crashed his vehicle into a tree that was too close to the road.  This was noted by the pickup driver who had decided to follow the officer, mistaking his erratic driving and accident as a sign that the man was drunk, rather than trying desperately to contact other police on his radio in a vain attempt to report the brush-up.

Unhurt, the off-duty officer investigated the damage and prepared to make out an accident report, but it was late and he was tired, and so when a K-9 unit called in by the pickup driver, found him asleep in the nearby bushes, he was obviously confused since he had not made contact with them on his radio.

For his diligence in trying to report his parking lot collision, Trevor Endsley, was put on administrative leave, and an internal investigation was made.  Rather than have the public pay for all this, Trevor, decided to resign from the Springfield PD.

Some may say this officer was incredibly drunk and guilty of hit and run/leaving the scene of an accident, but those are obvious cop-haters who only notice the actions of bad officers.

I point this story out for this reason.  We recently (this Sunday) had a traffic incident involving an off-duty MCSO driving home and a 14 y.o. pedestrian in front of the Ludington Best Western Motel.  All information on this accident was filtered to the media by the MCSO, they continued, even through Monday, to make press releases saying the officer was definitely not at fault, the pedestrian was totally at fault, and even though the officer never saw the pedestrian, he was alert enough to know that the pedestrian, a 14 y.o. boy, 'jetted' out from the van parked two lanes away at the time of the collision.  I think the MCSO representatives should stay their tongue-flapping about any absolute facts until the Michigan State Police have entered their investigative findings, and point any media outlets towards the MSP for a statement.  Do I hold the officer guilty?  No, but neither will I hold the pedestrian guilty until the investigation runs its course.

To do otherwise would be about as silly as my defense of Officer Trevor Endsley.

X- your to hard on the poor guy, that was a brilliant explanation of events.

As far as the 14 y.o. I hope he is doing well.

The 14 year old unfortunately did not survive the accident.

I looked at this in the BUMPS section.  There is still no release from the MSP available, just from the Sheriff's office.

Good point on the accident and this 'accident waiting to happen in the Springfield PD, X.  I always had you pegged for a police apologist.

Sounds like something that would happen on the Simpsons.  There action takes place in Springfield too.
