Ad ran on election eve in 2001. Fast forward ten years under Mayor Henderson's leadership. No lifeguards, and no youth center. No signs of any focus on industrial jobs, and no indication of any better city services (many would say these have deteriorated). A look at the downtown in 2001 and here at the end of 2011, shows a lot of downtown businesses having failed, not including the businesses located elsewhere in the city.
I count 0 for 5; anybody else get a different result?

I also count 0 for 5, quite a track record of broken promises, and missed opportunities. As far a local recessions go, yes, businesses and taxpayers are feeling a huge crunch, but the COL is not. It still has a large nest egg of over $7Million on hand, and if you look at their attitudes and statements until just recently, they didn't even seem to realize their was a recession going on all around them, spending like drunken sailors on the usual tourist related projects to no end. Doesn't look like the same man of 10 years ago, he must have gained at least 40-50 lbs. in fat-cat fashion since then. Probably HOF ice cream donations no doubt.

Let's give Mayor John a little slack for having a bit of a recession over the last four years. That said, I might give him credit for saving downtown businesses through the DDAs subsidization of certain downtown businesses which has been noted repeatedly here.
