Alleged Battle Creek Assailant is NOT Former Ludington Mayor

The Ludington Torch news desk has been besieged by folks, primarily from the south, asking for comment about the recent arrest and arraignment of what they thought was the former mayor of Ludington (2002-2013), John E. Henderson in Battle Creek for false imprisonment and sexual assault.  After a little research, I can assure those people that the person in the news has no relation to him, but is instead a shaky Battle Creek resident named Johnny Henderson.

To prove the point, here is the news story where the alleged perpetrator is 29 years old, much younger than our past mayor, and who would have been ineligible by dint of his age to assume that role back in 2002.  The other rumor running rampant, that current Ludington Mayor Ryan Cox helped collar him while in his alternate role as a reserve police officer, is also totally untrue.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) – A man accused of trying to sexually assault a Battle Creek woman, allegedly holding her against her will for hours in her home, has been arraigned.

Johnny Henderson, 29, is facing charges of attempted criminal sexual conduct and false imprisonment.

Police were called to a home on Colvin Street around 2:20 a.m. Thursday for a 24-year-old woman who said that Henderson, who is an acquaintance, tried to assault her.

The woman told offers that Henderson held her against her will for almost three hours at her home on Margaret Street, and forcefully tried to take off her clothes, according to police.

However, the woman was able to escape and ran to the home on Colvin Street, police said.

But before police got to the house on Colvin Street, the woman said Henderson followed her there and tried to break in by banging beating on the windows and door with a rake, police said.

Henderson left before officers arrived, but was later arrested back at the woman’s home on Margaret Street.

He is being held at the Calhoun County Jail on a $30,000 bond.

I found a photo of the woman he allegedly assaulted whose name coincidentally is Kaye Holman

Thanks for that update, I hadn't realized they were releasing the name and photo of the victim yet.  You can see that Battle Creek's 24 year old Kaye Holman is traumatized by the events.

Well if that picture is the women supposely  this John sexual rape she surely don't look like 24? she looks like and older lady of like in her 70's .And another person beging falsely accused & falsely imprisonment , what is wrong with these women & cops that are all lieing whats in it for them, like I said before way to may dudes are getting put in prison for something they are falsely accused of its'n right. So it's the courts & the cops what to keep all the bad guys out in the world to keep doing all the bad stuff and hurting people of all ages, and putting away all the Innocense people in prison so  can get hurt & stave and get messed up and end up with PSTD, Trama, etc, & and why when they didn't do anything sure their might be a few that did but their seems to be more n more that out ways it I hear and read how so many are put in prison for falsely accused of csc their has to be and end to this madness .

Wildfire. The picture is a joke but she does look a lot like my mother in law. The only thing different is this woman has hair.

This was kind of a tongue-in-cheek post for casual Friday, Wildfire, allowing for some good natured banter, but you raise a valid point.  It is quite easy to bring down a man and his reputation by having a woman come forth with allegations that are false.  The justice system is moving away from the 'innocent, until proven guilty' template, and into more of a 'guilty, until proven innocent' course of action.  Here, the accused Johnny Henderson looks to have been caught with a rake in hand and acting suspicious at the least.

Another incident to the south of us of note is one regarding the Montague Fire Chief, who has been suspended from his job and is looking at some tough charges against him, all apparently because his wife has leveled some charges against him regarding brandishing a weapon against her; it seems credible to the prosecutors, but all that has came out so far is her allegations.  He and his lawyer refute all charges:

“My client indicates that there was no domestic dispute, that he did not obviously ever threaten her with a firearm,” Marek (his attorney) said after the arraignment.

The lawyer said Roesler, who Marek said is licensed to carry a handgun, told him he was not intoxicated at any time while he was carrying a gun.

“It is our belief, at least in the infancy of this case, that there may be a motivation behind the alleged complaint against him,” Marek said.

That's why people's names should not be revealed until a conviction of some sort has been completed. Many folks have had their reputations ruined when falsely accused and their name and photo plastered all over the paper and TV. A glaring example was the Duke Lacrosse team who were accused of raping a "stripper". Nancy Grace is a prime example of extremely lousy journalism.

Well the ludington daily news did the same thing to Mr. Frederick Lewis put his name and face all over the tv and news paper before he was sentenced and that wasn't right at all, and look at that teacher they put his name also and that cab driver.
