Bob Erickson, County commissioner, is not looking at the big picture.

“I’m interested in one subject: I want jobs,” Mason County commissioner Bob Erickson told the crowd gathered at Peterson Auditorium Thursday night to hear an offshore wind farm proposal.

Noone disputes that jobs are a real priority but Mr Erickson seems to be very short sighted when it comes to this situation. Anyone who has done any digging into the wind towers knows that jobs will not be coming to local workers. I hope Erickson sees the detrimental impact those generators will have on  Lake Michigan, one of natures wonders, and vote againts these monstrosites

Methinks Mr. Erickson, with all due respect for his age and wisdom, has been out of the loop for the last couple of months. For some reason, Mr. Erickson believed the developers were going to set up a manufacturing plant here as well as technicians from here to build and oversee the project. That has been a foregone conclusion since February I do believe. Nothing of the sort was or is proposed. The developers have mentioned Muskegon as some sort of parts or service station of sorts, otherwise, the rest of the jobs are going overseas. I do hope the rest of that Mason County Commission isn't as uninformed and naive on the subject matter, and soundly votes this issue down, forever more.
What kind of person would even think people in this area would get those sorts of jobs or that they would base the facilities to produce stuff here.

Oh, wait, a lot.

Whenever I see anything about the wind turbines I think of the last scene with the bridge in iRobot.
