AS PART of the Ludington Torch's continuing education series, the editors release this primer on the various definitions of a word that found its applicability to local news, whether explicitly, as in the first definition, or implicitly, as in the latter two.  The first definition of shakedown deals with the SS Badger and an article in the City of Ludington Daily News (COLDNews) explaining their virgin voyage of the 2014 era of reduced emissions:

THE SECOND USE of the word shakedown had to deal with our local sheriff's office increasing the use of road patrols to enforce seatbelt use, speed, intoxicated and 'aggressive' driving, which illustrates a second definition:

In that the increased presence is due more to getting extra revenue from the early season visitors than promoting actual health and learning experiences for motorists.  Make sure to pull over and cite those sheriff patrol officers if they are driving distracted, driving aggressively, or ignoring their own seatbelt use.

LUDINGTON — If you’re driving on U.S. 10 between Scottville and Ludington this weekend, you will notice an increased police presence. Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said law enforcement officers from the sheriff’s office, Michigan State Police and Ludington Police Department are going to be concentrating on patrolling the 5-lane highway. He said officers will be paying extra attention to speed, seat belt use, aggressive driving and intoxicated drivers.

Since he became sheriff in 2013 Cole has made the safety on U.S. 10 a big focus of his department’s mission. The stretch is statistically one of the most dangerous in the state. (MCP Article)

THE THIRD definition of shakedown is not too unlike the second and is often applicable to our local public institutions, but in this case it involves another agency doing the swindling of just about everyone:

The Resilient Ludington project has taken about $30,000 from the City of Ludington, the County of Mason, and the Townships of Hamlin and Pere Marquette.  For that $30,000, we will receive training and help with our comprehensive master plans for each political unit, that we are told have a value of nearly $200,000.  For our expenditure (which equals about the amount the four units would spend on a master plan without assistance) our leaders and our Planning Commissions are getting inundated with the concepts of resilience and sustainability, and the socialistic control of our resources that goes along with these concepts that are based firmly on Agenda 21 principles.

Manufacturing a Climate Change Crisis (i.e. Global Warming Doomsday) scenario is part of the plan to institute more public controls of private property.  Using your property the way you want will be deemed unsustainable, you will be hindering the community's resiliency.  If history has shown us anything, taking away private property and other rights to build up a socialist Utopia is in itself unsustainable, and the freedoms, hopes, and liberties inherent in all people is the most resilient force on this planet.

The general idea of resiliency and sustainability are sound, but the means of accomplishing the goals the folks from LIAA propose, involve putting heavy restrictions on private property, and violating what liberties many Americans take for granted, until it is taken from them, are far from sound.  The "State Climatologist" Dr. Jeffrey Andresen may as well be standing behind a curtain while he blows flames from a projected image and trots out his cherry-picked charts and graphs that try to warp the realities of global warming, which is:

  • Global sea ice area is near a record high for the date
  • Antarctic sea ice area is at a record high for the date
  • No global warming for almost two decades
  • Last two years were the quietest on record for US tornadoes
  • Last year was a near record low season for Atlantic hurricanes
  • Nine years without a major US hurricane (category 3-5) strike – longest on record.
  • Obama’s presidency has had the fewest hurricanes of any presidency
  • US cooling since 1940
  • Coldest year on record so far in the US
  • Record springtime ice on the Great Lakes
  • Northern Hemisphere winter snow cover since 2004, was the highest decade on record
  • US winter temperatures have been plummeting since 2000

The progressive agencies that primarily fund LIAA's efforts in Mason County (Kresge Foundation, et. al.) will be successful in their swindle if the comprehensive plans for any of our agencies are based on the faulty predictions and hypotheses of these people.  And don't be surprised if these progressive agencies are poised to earn plenty of rewards on their investment if we are foolish enough to believe that the threads on the Emperor's new clothes are so sheer they are invisible.  Unfortunately, our leaders do not want to appear dumb by stating the obvious refutations available to them if they did their homework on the topic.  It takes a child to do that.

I went the that meeting but came in a little so I missed a few comments but one thing I did hear that was most disturbing was Dr. Jeffrey Andresen's admission that there was indeed plans that may or may not be in affect as of now to Geo-engineer the Earth's atmosphere. This was an answer to a question raised by one of the audience members. Two of the methods he explained were to put chemicals in the atmosphere to reflect sunlight. The other was dumping millions of tons of iron powder in the oceans to jump start the oceans to remove more CO2 by increasing plankton. For those unfamiliar with the term Geo-engineer, it is simply dangerous attempts to try lower in some way the CO2 in the Earth's atmosphere by manipulating the atmospheres chemical make up and the oceans chemical soup as well. Nobody knows what the true effects will be on Earth's atmosphere. Another method of climate control is emitting low level electrical impulses into the atmosphere to alter the ionosphere which will affect the jet-stream. One project to accomplish this is called HARP. All of this is very dangerous stuff and the fact that the fanatics involved with perpetuating the Global Warming myth may end up doing to the Earth what they say they are trying to prevent. A self fulfilling prediction, if you will.

HARP video

Dr. Andresen's main thesis, which was mostly replayed at the next day's leadership conference, was very similar to the presentation he used at the Resilient Monroe video I critiqued in the other post, however, it was mildly adapted to reflect the odd happenings of this last year in this region.  He still used almost every one of his graphics and charts from the Monroe presentation, including the computer projection graphics, unmodified.  Five of the potential questions I had were stymied by him altering his presentation, but as you noticed, I was never able to get an opportunity to question him.  He had three questions, all from non-skeptics, before he sat down due to time constraints.

Since the meeting at the PM Town Hall, where several skeptical people had shown up and questioned LIAA's backing and motives, the meetings have been engineered to avoid a replay.

Geoengineering is very scary, particularly since the ones who could control the weather could use it for evil, tyrannical, or military purposes.
