Is it just me or does it seem like Democrats are on the run of late?

I don't think the democrats are helping themselves with all the shenanigans they have been up to lately... namely the leaving town or the state instead of staying and doing what they were elected to do. First you had the group in Wisconsin that took off and of course the group in Indiana that did the same. It could even be said that the Democrats in Washington took a hike when they should of been staying right where they were at to work on the budget issues that the House had been doing its part on.

Supporters of these congressman might say that by running they are doing what they were elected to do, trying to protect those that elected them. I just have my doubts that if I read through a job description for one of these jobs that I would see anywhere, anything about leaving their state to delay votes or debate. In taking the job, you have to know there are times when you will have to vote on things that you do not agree with and obviously will vote no in those cases. The vote isn't always going to go your way, that's just a fact of life. I'm sure there been plenty of votes over the years in Wisconsin and all the other states that republicans have had to vote on, knowing that it was going to pass regardless of how they felt about it.

If the democrats want to be taken seriously, they need to get their butts back to their respective congressional houses and do the job they were elected to do.

I remember going to school at MCC in the late 70's/early 80's when the teachers there went on strike.  I was fine with having the days off and can't recall the petty problems that were at play, but it always stuck with me how ridiculous it was.

Seeing the pictures of the Wisconsin strikers, many teachers, trying to keep some unnecessary  benefits, courtesy of the struggling taxpayers, rekindled this memory.  As Edie pointed out , they are hired and given those benisons by the taxpayers who are earning less and getting less benefits than them on average.
